hey what about expanding to diffo games
At its current state, LL is just a dead DarkRP server with a fancy name in terms of what people do. Most players are either going around the map as cops arresting people for stupid reasons, or sitting in their base contrawhoring.

IMO this isn’t just the maps fault. Whilst the map plays a big part in the contrawhoring, as there’s so many hidden places that you can go to and not be found for hours, but it’s also due to the lack of exciting content.   If we actually add content that will benefit PassiveRP’s and change the map to one that isn’t too big for our current Player base, we might actually be able to attract PassiveRPers.

(Jun 25, 2019, 07:16 PM)LiVHDX Wrote: [ -> ]Doc I think that's a silly argument. People voted for it, tried it and it isn't working clearly. Just because something was voted for at the time doesn't mean that the opinion hasn't shifted after it's been tried and tested.

Perhaps so, but this is the same argument that's happened with every map.

TrueNorth.
Florida.
Rockford.
Evo v2p.
Evo v4b1.
Evo 33x.
Evo 2d.

They've all had these arguments, and people popping out the woodwork to call them shit and how X map is better.

Gib map rotation
A whitelist is a top notch idea. Seriously.
A whitelist system isn't going to save Limelight from its month-by-month player count decline. Expanding games or to other gamemodes is a good but risky idea considering Limelight already spends a lot (don't know exact figure) on the Garry's Mod CityRP servers. Decrease in player count means decrease in revenue, meaning I doubt we'll see expansion anytime soon.

Who knows what to do at this rate, it doesn't help that the game and gamemode are both old, clunky and get awful framerates.
This has been a longer issue since TN has been out, literally I haven't even played on True North and I've been seeing this discussion for years now. It's always the map or people saying it's exam season.

When I think of Limelight I get a very strong cops and robbers vibe, but there's not really a lot to do outside of that, there's already been some good suggestions that have already been tossed in this thread and I think a few of them could really help, like more ideas for chefs and passive RP.

As Theo has been suggesting, content is important and I'd agree, but it should be content that's easy to work with and integrate into roleplay. I don't think it's a good idea to try and create systems that focus more on the actual mechanics for it than what it's purpose is meant to be, nowdays it just feels like people talk about the best way to make money instead of actually trying to roleplay for fun. (Not that making money is bad, I just mean in the context people try to meta the systems instead of actually immersing themselves with it.)

It's just my two cents, maybe I'm wrong but I'm just speaking from my point of view, and what I've seen.
I don't think it's good to be dismissive of other opinions, or even ideas. While the map is not the soul issue, and there is a lot more to say on that particular topic. It is a big factor of how it flows. Both Rockford and True-north have been divisive. And people got bored of both of those maps. Personally I don't see the issue in having a vote for another map, if that is what people want. Ideally a rotation would be nice.

This does not fix a lot of the issues that we have, but some of these I don't see being solved unless a bigger overhaul takes place, others can be over time, if people are willing to put in the time.

On the note of chef RP:

There are MESKA modules planned for cooking, and other skills in this thread: https://limelightgaming.net/forums/threa...#pid275054

Of course.. there is no telling how long it will take for those modules to be released. But some of the ideas related to it, which I am not sure if I can discuss, do seem like it would drive more RP.

Besides that I agree that we need more content and changes that focus on enhancing RP, and integrating it more. Compared to other Semi-serious RP servers, we don't have rule-sets in place for very basic roleplay functions. Like needing to respond to a player doing a /me involving your character in a certain way, how rolls work, and the limits of what you can and can't do in RP is very unclear here.

Space engineers and Minecraft worked out really well (not). It's not the worst idea, but not the best unless we can manage to create something special or unique in a different game.

Currently, we have a stunning amount of three (!) players on the server (19:23 CET +1, Thursday). Imo the entire focus should be on the server itself, not on a different game.

Edit: Make it 2.
