Why don't we hash out what we as players can do to improve the overall population situation.

As many of you know, I'm really just an occasional guy, putting in less than ten hours a month right now due to IRL.  I'm willing to use my rig to help where possible.

We have an afk job.  I'm currently asking on the discord if we're allowed to just idle in there instead of logging off.  This will raise the server player count, in turn raising the server on the gmod list by 1 player.  If a dozen or so of us did it, we would raise even higher.  This attracts players that want to play, but obviously also causes a conundrum of joining an empty full server, so it must be done in moderation.  If LL had multiple servers that it could redirect afks to, there is a method of using afk players to maintain your server at X player count to keep it high on the list, while also redirecting afks in bulk away from the server as more "active" players join.

Advertising seems to be extremely taboo in Gmod.  I wish it was like other games where servers would have an advert page that would display other servers that were "friendly" to the hosting server.  Something like a mutual "If you enjoyed playing her, check out our friends at..." but that only ever works if all parties involved keep up their end.

I'm not going to go into how to improve the social aspects of the players, its not really possible.  I don't think that anything has improved based on my experiences over the last two days.  Simply put, we still have people who act pretty damn goofy.  I played piano for maybe 20 minutes yesterday and the entire time I had a cluster of people making fart sounds, breathing heavily into their mics, and discussing sex toys.  As soon as I hopped off the piano to shake afk, it was minge grabbed.  This kind of behavior isn't really fixable, but it doesn't help people enjoy their time here either.  I could have complained to an admin, but instead I just removed my stuff and had to log due to irl issues shortly after.

I wish I could think of more than two possible things to try and help.  I wish that either of them were great ideas too, but really they aren't going to help much.  Gmod itself is very very old and while most people own it, most people would also like to play a game that doesn't take 30 minutes to load and is choppy / laggy mainly because of its own content.  I still strongly suggest converting the logic and solutions to a new engine.  Its mostly syntax changes.  Waiting for S&Box is probably not a good idea at this point, seeing as Garry is already working on another title while SB isn't even out of prototyping.

Pretty much the above, a lot of the player base is immature which is expected. But it just pushes people away to more mature and developed communities like Arma 3, etc.

There are many ways you can advertise on Instagram snapchat YouTube and even discord as there is a discord server in which gmod communities can advertise on!

Garry's Mod in it's self is wayyyy too much of a niche game so wasting money on advertising through large companies like google or facebook ads wouldn't be viable to LL. What we need to do is make the server seem attractive to the Gmod playerbase. Why should they come on here instead of another server?
I’d also consider more Serious RP nights, and mini events with some form of reward.

Advertised through the website for a set date etc
I mean the main reason I don't play anymore is because me and the map don't get along. I just lurk the forums in a hope that one day we will get an evo server.
