Great roleplay potential, very different to the evocity type of map. I would like to see this be the new map. You almost want to connect it to another map and have one for this and one for lots of custom buildings.

I will finally put a say in this. I agree with a lot of the positives and negatives about the map, but I think the positives hugely outway the negatives. However, I think there is a predicament.
Positives:
+ New, fresh roleplay experience
+ Not too far apart (issue with truenorth)
+ Not a fucking constant loop (issue with evocity, plus with rockford)
+ Elevation variety, high-rises (issue with evocity)
+ More evasion spots
+ Better Underground Locations
+ Insanely High Quality
+ New content (maybe boats)
Negatives:
- No central location for RP
- Lacks "obvious" building space (be creative)
- Lacks empty space in buildings (might be fixable via removal of some props)
Neutral:
- Lacks some MESKA map locations
- Possible improvement in performance
- Possible discouragement from too much change
The issue I have with all of this is the change of a map. We haven't had good experiences with map changes in the past year or so. When we switched to truenorth, I think we did it too early from the map's release. The map didn't have time to settle into the gmod community therefore reducing our population tremendously. I don't want to do that again.
Evocity is a safe map, the central and most popular map for gmod roleplay. Literally almost everyone knows about it; consequently, it invites new people and players are familiar. Lets not look at it as a fall back though, because that's not a good mindset. People want to do that because they already know they are not gonna like the new map. If that is the case, why even attempt to change the map if people like this one so much as to keep it as the backup.
An arguable statement is that the map changes everything about a server and the experience. Each map is different and allows new opportunities and challenges. I think this is great, but some players don't want to change the current opportunities and challenges. This results in conflict that doesn't exist if you aren't changing the map. If you are going to change the map, you need to be prepared to handle this conflict and assess those individuals to see how you can make their transition easier.
People gonna hate. Simple as that. We need to make sure we have a system for players to report their comments without them stirring up drama within the community.
You have to have confidence. If you go into this half-ass and aren't fully committed, it probably won't work out well. Make sure that the community and the staff have confidence in this being a viable option.
The more people against the map or even just the change equals more conflict, more conflict equals less enjoyment and more bickering, less enjoyment equals less players, etc. We need to minimise the conflict. I think we would need at 90% of the community online. Do this by politely convincing the players against the change that their concerns will be addressed.
In conclusion, any map change is risky and presents new conflict. If you cannot handle the risk or conflict, I wouldn't do it. Simple. I would wait until your confident enough to pull the trigger.

Don't get me wrong, there's something about EVO i find appealing, maybe it's just nostalgia, maybe it's the dupes...but after spending almost 5 years on the map...It's just not fresh anymore and feels a bit dull, south side feels so vibrant, the map isn't psychically divided into districts (except for one warehouse on the waterfront) and the different areas blend naturally.
One of the best things about the map is just how many exits and entrances there are to areas. I feel as though one of the reasons so many confrontations, especially those with law enforcement officers, end in violence is because the criminal element is always cornered. They can't break a window and climb down or up the fire escape, they can't get out the fire exit and run down a back alley etc. This map might not only give criminals another non-violent option (other than giving up) as well as force officers to actually form a strategy and try to cover the many exits available to the criminal element.
Another great thing about this map are the amount of items you can interact with. Vent covers, light switches, doorbells, alarms that are connected to a control panel in the PD, the temperature control on walk in freezers and even the strobe lights and turntable in the DJ's booth at the nightclub.
Lastly this map gives of a sense of being large and is yet still so compact and should hopefully encourage more player interaction
I love this map and even if it's just for a trial It get my +support

At some point maps get boring when you have to play on them for ages. A map rotation would definitely fix this issue.

The majority said they wanted EvoCity.
The majority said they wanted Thatcher
The majority said they wanted Blair
The majority said they wanted Cameron
Situations change, people want something fresh because they've gotten fed up with what they've already got.

I think another server tried this and ended up finding that people would just play the map they enjoyed, basically splitting the community in three. I always thought this could maybe be a good idea as well, however if that is true then perhaps it is not such a great idea after all.

This is not an attack on the staff/dev team btw I think you guys do a wonderful job for the community.
But if I gotta be completely honest if we don't get a map change quick this server will slowly but surely die...
We need something new. And it's obvious why you guys are cautious but if we do nothing then players will lose interest in the server quicker then my cat when he's playing with his toys.
