Although good for the nostalgia factor, I don't think this will hold up well by today's standards. I believe that gunfights would be even better today with the guns we have now if it wasn't for the dreadful FPS.

Was more the way things played out - lower damage per hit, healthpacks prolonging things. (partly a reason people didn't have *shit* tons of spare cash)

There used to be a whole subcommunity in FL for example that came on just to PVP (and do agressive role-play). It used to be lots of fun. That simply doesn't exist in any equatable way on LL, and has not done since a few months after launch.

I, and everyone I used to be friends with would soley play FL for this reason. In doing so we created lots of clan RP, lots of actual 'passive RPs' with the plan to turn them agressive. It gave government something to do - 30-40 minute long raids, solved using tactics or until one side got bored and stopped coming back. It was fun for either side.

Now? Get raided > over in 2 minutes. 

criminal RP? Raided, 15 minutes in prison (as you'll prob get revived). 


PVP and general agressiveness is always going to have some issues of 'overly agressive' behaveour, but I know for a fact that everyone I used to be friends with on FL and early days of LL absolutely loved it, regardless if playing as gov or criminal.


I've always been opposed to the changes to gunplay to favour roleplay or realism. It was such a huge subsection of the server population which is now alienated.

Yeah, there's issues of 'balance, 'pay to win (healthkits)'' etc, but the only people I ever saw complaining about that were primarily passiveRPers who wanted to RP as gov, and literally were shit at PVP.  Why should 1 person, very skilled, automatically loose against 6 police officers who literally have 0 skill? Realism, maybe, but it's not fun or rewarding.

I know for a fact i'd return to LL in an instant if the PVP system was similar. It's not nostalgia, it's being able to spend extended periods of time, playing a game, in an action-orientated environment. Playing 2 hours of gov hoping to get 1/2 minutes of shootout maybe once in that period isn't all that fun to me, and I suspect to many others who have stopped playing too.

Gota agree with jono on the combat side of things, super fast death isnt exactly as fun as the olden days of combat.

Though hindsight is 20/20

A comparison would be playing ARMA 3, youve spent 30 minutes climbing up to an area, and then jus tas a fight begins, BOOM, dead in an instant, and its not at all fun and now you just wana go do somthing else.

While you know what your getting into with ARMA as its supposed to be like that, Gmod has the ability to be more about the fun aspect of combat, and not the "Oh your dead in an instant" aspect

The problem i feel would be incompatibility between the two groups and their policies and how they go about enforcing them.
