Too big, couldn't even find my way around the mine without getting lost. Takes me forever to figure out where I need to go, also feels incredibly empty with 60 players. No thanks
(Jan 1, 2019, 10:16 PM)Kvatch Wrote: [ -> ]Moving away from the lacking buildings in the inner city, the outer city also features some rather questionable design ideas. The absolute labrynth that is the road system is confusing to new players and will put them off wanting to play on Limelight because of this map. I frequently find myself either going in circles, or just ending up back at the city when I'm trying to reach a specific location. It seems like the map creator tried making a realistic layout with the roads - fair - but we don't have a GPS system to aid the emergency services in arriving promptly on scene. If there's a shoot out, the culprits will be gone before the police even arrive on scene. That's realistic and great and all, but we also lack the "detective RP" features needed to chase up this kind of RP.

After playing for a while I actually started working on a GPS system for GMod. So far I’ve just started working on the path finding algorithm and I’m mostly experimenting. I may release this in the future if I stay motivated working on it.

The city feels much more alive than on Rockford.

I also like that you actually have to drive a bit in order to go somewhere outer city.

Being required to drive further to get somewhere is counter-intuitive if you're looking to make the server feel 'more alive'.

Part of why v4b1 felt so 'alive' is because it was a smaller map. It struck a balance between distances being too far and distances being too close, to the point that it was easily worth driving due to the time saved, but not ridiculous to have to run across the map to regain your car.
50-60 FPS in the city, and 55-70 FPS outside of the city with:
- Ryzen 1600, GTX 1070 Ti, 16GB (2x8GB) 3200MHz RAM, 512GB SSD.
- gmod_mcore_test 1
- 1080p, maximum settings apart from no AA (but 16x filtering), no HDR, and no bloom effect.
- No FPS boosting console commands.

Frame times are really poor with this map, and I've experienced the same random freezes that have been aforementioned; they're a lot worse than Rockford when it first started out. People are also having issues with voice communications, with a lot of stuttering which kills RP.

I'd really advise against using this map permanently.

Frames per second and frame times are different.

Sweating Laugh
Been playing for a few hours today really enjoyed it only part i did not enjoy was fps wise it was shit but thats only because i still need to fit my graphics card in other than that realistic, great main street and other stuff
Initially, I thought the whole road system would be annoying to drive through but it's actually pretty interesting having to try and navigate to areas in the map. Only thing I've noticed is some extreme screen stuttering when loading areas of the map with a high player population.
This map in a way is one big placebo..Replacing actual buildings with beautiful and grasping facades making us feel like we have nicer, more familiar to us buildings, but actually leaving us with just walls to look at and nothing more. The lack of large-scale build areas completely turns me off and the overall separation/distance between everything can really get confusing. Lots of unenterable doors and buildings makes me feel like I'm playing DayZ. Undoubtedly the map does have significant potential, like the Autoplex (Car dealership, Car Rental Building & Mechanics Area) But it lacks creative freedom for standalone builds. Some buildings, such as the cinema, rip props straight from Rockford. The rear buildings in Buttstallion Memorial Park have duplicated textures of wall objects placed on the ground. Overall I'm saying that the map has potential but I personally believe its not the kind of map for us.

Idk what shit you're smoking because I have plenty of dupes for grassy fields and you can fit atleast 1 or 2 rp's on there.

Yea i dont think you understand, once oncebody "claims" fields then you done for if you had plans there, if evo removed the unnecesary tree clutter in unused areas it could do for more building spaces

1. The map creator said that having lots of open shops would decrease FPS even more because of rendering issues and would leave many shops empty. However he said that he'll look into adding more should the community want more. There are always people telling him to add more decor and people advising against it.
(btw DayZ SA has most buildings enterable)

2. There are many building positions such as the side of the hill, next to the river, next to lake, near suburbs.
(Has RP really become this lazy?)

3. The cinema doesn't "rip" props. He is the same creator.

4. The texture bugs have already been reported and responded to.
(I wish people visited the threads I linked.)

Nobody expects all the buildings to be real, but I know I personally would don't think having fake buildings for the sake of enlarging the map with useless filler content severely degrades the quality of the map. It's big for the sake of being big, it doesn't actually have much content. Just don't have fake buildings, don't add them to begin with if you cannot balance performance with content.

Reported, but there's no ETA or real assurance it'll ever be updated, I don't think LL should be banking the community's future on the promises that eventually it'll be updated and fixed. True North seems to be alot of "Some day" "Soon" "Eventually". We need now.
I've tested the map quite a lot now. I really don't know where those people get their FPS problems from? I get excellent FPS as I will show you in the following video:

Please excuse my driving skills, but everybody should know I'm bad at driving lol
