I don't think something this big should be set aside to a vote, especially when it was created before the maps were even trialled, which creates the big issue of fanboyism, confirmation bias, and bandwagoning.

As I said before, TN received a shit ton of votes trough the map-trials. Those numbers don't lie.

What??? In the whole trial-map time TN received even more votes.

Doesnt matter, it could have 100% of the vote, and it still wouldnt guarantee its usage.

The trial period was to test player satisfaction, player issues, RP issues, player grouping, bugs, performance issues etc.

No matter how many people want somthing, if it doesnt fill the criteria for what the devs determine LL is capable of useing, it doesnt get used.

No point in picking a map when the last year faustie, internet and others have been working on performance fixes, if the map we pick is just going to undo that all.

Personaly I feel the majority of the TN votes are meerly bandwagon votes, voting because its the new thing, as thats the only way it got on the trial vote to begin with, it was new, it looked fancy, but upon closer inspection it has some serious flaws.

I bet if v5p would lead the vote you would speak differently.

It wouldnt matter, as a new vote would still need to be held after testing

In the discussion threads, where people have been able to make compelling arguments about why they prefer certain maps to others, the feedback has been much more varied.

In fact, you could argue that v5p has had the least flaws mentioned (as those mentioned were mostly to do with implementation of the map), followed by True North (most arguments about the nature of the map, such as the size), and then v17x (most arguments about removing good aspects from v4b1, and adding bad aspects from v2d).

When it comes down to a discussion where it's not just about 'yeh i'm gona vote because my m8 did and i heard true north is a prety gud map, also bigr and more colourful is betr!<QUICKREFERENCES#11><QUICKREFERENCES#1>!!!', it's clear that an entirely quantitative vote isn't representative of the feelings of the community.

Also, who said that the map has to be decided based on a community vote anyway? As I mentioned before, it worked out very poorly with Rockford, and quite frankly, most people who are voting either have no clue about what they're talking about, and/or won't be able to explain their vote, as evident from the discussion threads.

It's also not fair to compare the current voting. True North has received just under 1/2 of the playtime for this three-week map trial period, whereas it only represents 1/3 of the voting options. If you want to speak objectively and statistically, it isn't a fair comparison at all.
I had a look at the updated version of True North. With it comes some improvements by having less fake doors, though its a double edged sword as there is even more strain on performance.

Considering I have a high-end computer and drops anywhere from 60-10 frames at any given moment (in single player, no people, no props, etc.) is concerning to say the least. Stability is evidently not the maps strong suit.
I have no clue how you’re getting such low frames, especially in single player. I get around 120-130fps and I’m only running on an i5.

i5s from most generations will run GMod very well because Source engine games favour CPUs with higher instructions per cycle and higher single core clock speeds. I think it's AMD Ryzen CPU users who will see the most variance in performance between maps, because GMod runs worse on the current and previous generations of Ryzen CPUs.

Saying "on an i5" is pretty damn miss-leading since the coffee lake i5 8600k performs the same or better has previous i7's
i5-7600k

Strange, is yours OCed? Because I have the exact same cpu and I don't get that kinda FPS; even with console commands.

Considering LL is very much into building options for their RP, this is quite the issue

Well there are a few areas that are fine for building. Just means you will have to use the environment around you differently.
(Jan 17, 2019, 08:34 PM)Midget. Wrote: [ -> ]TrueNorth is not "too big".

Although you are correct that the map FEELS bigger then Evocity, Rockford etc in fact it's about the same size but spread out. Which is a lot better since now police chases would now require effort and not just "lets block them on the other side" all the time and the fact you can have a nice drive from your house to the city instead of being next door is a much nicer experience.

For the whole walking situation, there are taxis for a reason. Cops can call for another unit to come pick them up. Only issue is that there isn't as much building options compared to Rockford/Evocity but that doesn't bother me tbh

Stop saying it just feels bigger lol, that’s a load of crap. It genuinely is bigger. Drive around hem and time and you’ll see truenorth is a lot bigger. It’s like saying New York only feels bigger than Liverpool.

It's base clocked, bare in mind I was on a singleplayer server on sandbox, so obviously that FPS is nothing really compared to what it is on the Limelight server.
