Aye, because the problem is a moderation problem, not a technical problem.

I get where you're coming from, but even then staff aren't very active (Apart from some). By doing this it will help relieve part of the problem.

But my point is staff aren't always on to deal with this lol, and I and many others dont want to drive around looking for a mechanic for 30mins. Staff inactivity is very low atm.

I just came from a situation where the mechanic is driveing around and ramming people's car's and evading police insted of doing their job when I had to repair my car. So I made @ calls and 2 moderators where online but they didn't do anything and I had to buy repair kits for 10k insted because nobody is acting on it. It's really an issue even when staff is online.

I don't see why you're comparing it to the chef? This suggestion has nothing to do with the chef. You argument again the whole idea either involves A ) Staff or B ) Chef. I have suggested a fix to a current problem and I don't see your point of comparing the mechanic to the chef.

So a chef provides a service, which is critical to the server (selling food). If there are no chefs, something else provides the same service (vending machines). If the chefs are occupied, arrested etc, there are other ways (fishing) which provide the same effect, but take resources (your time).

So a mechanic provides a service, which is critical to the server (repairing cars). If there are no chefs, something else provides the same service (repair bays). If the mechanics are occupied, arrested etc, there are other ways (repair kits) which provide the same effect, but take resources (money, or crafting resources).

That's why I'm bringing the chef into this. They are in very similar situations.

As for bringing staff into this, the issue you noted and want to fix, is a moderation issue.

If they're sat AFK, they're not providing a service.
If they're going round joyriding, they're not providing a service.

This is a moderation issue, not a technological issue. Mechanic was allowed to do whatever, because nothing relied on them.. Repair your car? Use the bay. Paint it? There's a bay for that.

The amount of people that are +supporting this should make you realise that this is a problem. We can't always rely on staff. There are times when staff do their own thing and wont come and help, there are times when none are on. Regarding 3.7a, I doubt they are seducing themselves, they are always roaming round, weather it be being chased by police or walking.

Unfortunately there is no moderation most of the time. Had the situation 100 times already where mechanics weren't responding to any messages and there was no staff online.

It's getting quite an issue with the lack of staff on the server.

In one example I approached the mechanic and asked him if I'd be able to pay for a vehicle repair, he then hops into his vehicle and proceeds to run me over. No staff online of course.

Although it is a moderation issue, it can be prevented somewhat by having this suggestion in place.

Just because people want it, doesn't mean it's a good idea.

You can easily compare this to the chef.  Chef is on, vending machines off.  Don't like that, you can fish.

Mechanic is on, repair station is off.  Don't like that, you can use repair kit.

Since when there is one chef, no automated features exist, it should be the same for any other service provider when they are active.


Inactive players, players not doing job, ect, are rule violations.  The vending machines were never turned on while the chef was in play, even when he wasn't doing his job.


While you love your cars, this isn't a good suggestion, as people will simply use the pump over using the mechanic.


While your arguments are focused on what happens when 1 mechanic ISN'T doing his job, you haven't considered the repercussions of what happens when one mechanic IS doing his job but the driving players are too lazy to take part in his RP, prefering to use the pump.


I'll vote in a bit, but right now it's a -support.  Explain how this fix isn't going to harm normal roleplaying mechanics when there are only one of them.  Because lets be honest, most of you will simply use the pump even if there is a mechanic to avoid paying whatever he's charging / to avoid the delay of dealing with roleplay.
