Many times, staff members are too busy to look into every single report that comes through. Our tool is good but it's not perfect either and it takes time to review a situation with it.

If a staff member is on the server, then he'll have to prioritize calls, especially when there are several. We try to look into cases through our tool but it takes a lot of time and sometimes we just can't do it.

When we require evidence in a PR, then it is because our tools alone might not give us enough information. We also don't have time to look through hours of material for claimed rulebreakage on a PR.

It does not capture VOIP.

I will not go more in-debth about our tools and powers.
Sincerely, Enzyme

Another point which I brought up a couple of pages ago,

Why is it that some staff members spend 20+ Hours on the server per week while others can spend as little as 30 minutes on the server per week?

This was actually recently dealt with. The only reason some staff members are inactive now is because they either have scheduled leave, internet issues, etc.

Other staff members that aren't scheduled are being looked into by HR I believe, but sadly from my personal opinion they are being too lenient. Hopefully with the new HR member we can see an increase in these check ins and possible promotions of active members (*cough* Bambo)

Is this perhaps something that could be shared publicly for transparency sake?

Not why staff members are on leave, more who is and when.

That is something for @Enzyme or @Overlewd, but I do agree with possibly giving players a heads up when each staff member will be on vacation.

I will not share information on when or why a staff member is away. They have IRL business to tend to, and if they want to share that information then they are able to to do so. IRL stuff comes up though and this makes it hard to say when someone will be unavailable, and for how long.

If you're avoiding people knowing for privacy issues, then why not make a Staff Roster page and when someone is away, they can edit it with 'Unavailable' or something like that. When they come back, they can update it with 'Available.' That way, players know that said staff member will be inactive, and players don't know the reason behind them being away.

Because that would then put the said staff member on the spot. adding to the already demanding activities we need to do when we aren't seen on the server. For example, handling the unban/unblacklist requests we receive, following up with logs, etc. Completely down to the staff member whether they'd like to announce the reason as to why they're going away.

'Why' should not be publicly announced unless the involved staff member decides to do so themselves. Simple because of privacy reasons.

However, 'when' should definitely be possible just so we will know what staff members suddenly disappeared off the grid and which ones had a LOA coming up.

Dig is a good example of that. What ever happened to him? Does anyone know if he's fine or not? Will he ever return? Etc.

I believe HR have said they've tried to get into contact with Dig and are awaiting a response of some form, though perhaps they can confirm this for you.

Similarly @"Rocket" putting 50+ hours into other games but less than an hour into the server, yet the server is an absolute mess and other staff members over worked.

yes because literally not doing those activities is demanding and makes it too hard to say "im going away for x amount of time"

I don't see how spending 5 seconds typing 'Unavailable' is that would add pressure?. Also, they won't be announcing the reason by just saying that they're unavailable. All it's doing is letting the community know that they won't be available for a while, which then avoids people having to constantly ask in this thread 'Why is <name? not on the servers?'

I'm on a kebab holiday, so that's the reason I'll be away for a week or so.

Everyone have the option to edit their forum-profile to make it state if he or she is unavailable and for how long. Staff members have the option to do this themselves, and I will not force the team to do that. Also, as for staff activity, that's a matter we like to handle internally to avoid any witch-hunt against staff members. Our current policy is that if someone has a lack of inactivity then they need to compensate for this by being more active on forum (internally) in discussions, votes and projects.

Staff will go up and down in activity. It happens to the best of us and it's inevitable. Again, I need to point out that this is an matter we'll handle internally to ensure that it's done properly and fairly. We also know that there are many different reasons for inactivity and that some of the reasons are more sensitive than others. If we want to have a battle hardened staff team then we need to accept that this will bring some inactivity issues with it. We're always trying to improve but I also need to remind the community that it's a tough job with a lot of labour and work behind it for no reward or gratitude. We try to do our best but we can't do more than trying our best.

@Overlewd and I will look into strengthening our moderator team while following up closer on administrators.

/Phone
Sincerely, Enzyme
