Pretty shocking to me, considering I use this feature quite a lot when I need to access reports or information from my phone. I would of never thought this would happen. TeamViewer is also denying that it has anything to do with them.

Yeah, thankfully I wasn't hit either. Sadly though some people are reporting their entire PayPal accounts are getting drained thanks to this, which is pretty devastating.

Only time I ever use Tiemviewer is when I'm not technologically inclined enough and it's far easier for someone else to just do something for me rather than trying to explain it.

I use teamviewer to access my server most of the time, scary to think your account could be hijacked and data could be wiped.
I guess im not turning my server on for a while

Really? uninstall immediately ? I think its a bit reactionary, if you need to do something then at least remove unnatended access where it isn't needed and change your password. Use TV all over the place and dont get me wrong i'm shitting it a bit as well, but everything is passworded when remoting in, so they would need my windows password as well, I dont re-use passwords anywhere unless I dont give a shit if somebody knows it.

So far as people claiming they didnt re-use passwords .... well, glad that people on the internet never made a false claim to avoid blame.

A little update to the situation and an insight as to what I'm doing regarding this whole situation.

If you use a firewall utility such as GlassWire (look it up) then you are able to block the network activity from the teamviewer application entirely when you don't intend to use it. It only takes a button to restrict/unrestrict network access from the application, and so far I've found the method works without fail.
