Teamviewer remote access accounts getting hijacked. - Night - Jun 3, 2016 Source: https://www.theregister.co.uk/2016/06/01/teamviewer_mass_breach_report/ Pretty shocking to me, considering I use this feature quite a lot when I need to access reports or information from my phone. I would of never thought this would happen. TeamViewer is also denying that it has anything to do with them. Thoughts? RE: Teamviewer remote access accounts getting hijacked. - Brax - Jun 3, 2016 Welp. Uninstalling that until further notice. Luckily I wasn't hit, thank god. Sadly though some people are reporting their entire PayPal accounts are getting drained thanks to this, which is pretty devastating. RE: Teamviewer remote access accounts getting hijacked. - Safira - Jun 4, 2016 Ouch. Only time I ever use Tiemviewer is when I'm not technologically inclined enough and it's far easier for someone else to just do something for me rather than trying to explain it. RE: Teamviewer remote access accounts getting hijacked. - WildDorito - Jun 4, 2016 I use teamviewer to access my server most of the time, scary to think your account could be hijacked and data could be wiped. I guess im not turning my server on for a while RE: Teamviewer remote access accounts getting hijacked. - Ollie630 - Jun 4, 2016 If anyone did hack my account, then there's only £0.01 for them to use. I think its a bit reactionary, if you need to do something then at least remove unnatended access where it isn't needed and change your password. Use TV all over the place and dont get me wrong i'm shitting it a bit as well, but everything is passworded when remoting in, so they would need my windows password as well, I dont re-use passwords anywhere unless I dont give a shit if somebody knows it. It's all dependant about the precautions you want to take. I mean, people are claiming their PayPal accounts got drained thanks to this, even with 2FA on. I'd rather not take any chances. I don't mean to be rude but don't insult other people without checking up on the issue yourself. There is 2FA and it was made redundant by the hack. Every installation of TV is vuln too, so uninstalling immediately was the best action to take. He's always been rude, not savage. RE: Teamviewer remote access accounts getting hijacked. - Night - Jun 12, 2016 Can we not tilt this off topic please? RE: Teamviewer remote access accounts getting hijacked. - Nacreas - Jun 12, 2016 Nightmare is right, get back on topic. RE: Teamviewer remote access accounts getting hijacked. - Night - Jun 12, 2016 A little update to the situation and an insight as to what I'm doing regarding this whole situation. If you use a firewall utility such as GlassWire (look it up) then you are able to block the network activity from the teamviewer application entirely when you don't intend to use it. It only takes a button to restrict/unrestrict network access from the application, and so far I've found the method works without fail. |
