Mate, The Guardian isn't going to pick up a story of some random gmod server which gives you the option to pay to bypass a ban, and then spin it to say we're funding Nazis. This is a good idea and will make hella money.

Not papers you have to worry about, it's other communities. People talk to eachother, and we'll become a minge-magnet, because they can pay their way out of bans.

So they blow the bank and net us huge profits? Sounds good.

I haven't seen minges work so hard to promote this.

Seems like a bad idea personally. I mean let's say someone is banned for 7 days for harassing another player. Then buys their ban away.

How does the harassed player feel knowing their tormentor can just buy their way back in?

Well being a minge magnet has knock-on effects, well-behaved player start leaving because they can't do anything without it being spoiled by minges, they leave and the server gets a reputation as a bad server which doesn't have morals, only profit margins. This then becomes a self-feeding loop, especially if a big youtuber like Plexiate or similar get wind of this, then BOOM, we're forever labelled as open-game for minges.

Covering Monty's point, I have some first hand experience of this. I was the head of staff on a medieval server when Zuthar came on.

I wasn't actually on at the time sadly but I did note the after effects. More minges then players coming. Then we died.  But yea. You dont want a youtuber coming on ans noticing these things. And theybl do tend to just come on. YouTube's do have an effect. Little off topic I guess, but even so.

All these replies are saying that we will just become a minge arena since they can buy their way out, yet they overlook the fact that buying out a ban would be at the staff member's discretion. If Plexiate or Zuthar gets wind of this, you don't let them buy back. They get banned once, their little community comes on for a week and gets banned. It isn't a 100% guarantee to be able to buy back. Chances are Zuthar has already come on here and the effects are long gone.

Why not make a small profit on people who made a mistake, but care enough about the server to pay to expedite their ban? $5 is a better lesson than a 24-hour inconvenience.

Another thing I have come to find out is that player loans are now moderated by staff members... meaning those that agree but fail to make payment(s) on their loan are subject to Out-of-Character punishment (?)

That's not exploitative? Encouraging new players, which largely consists (as some of you mentioned) of young children, to go and take on loans of hundreds of thousands of dollars that they're going to have to either A) spend hours and hours in-game grinding to repay or more likely B) find themselves in a situation where they are going to need to donate to cover the cost.

I think that's worse. Change my mind

@"David Phillips"‍ I don’t believe the terms of those loans are put somewhere easy for them to find either.

Loans are optional much like gambling as you would know.

Encouraging new players, which largely consists (as some of you mentioned) of young children, to go and gamble in a casino and loss hundreds of thousands of dollars that they have spent several hours in-game grinding? See the similarity in the statement but with a few changed words?

Also take an actual read of the stipulated guidelines around it. You are literally obligated to explain the player what they're getting into

Quote:Please make reasonable deals, if you loan 2 million to a 1 hour player and then complain when they don't pay you back, we (staff) are going to be less than happy. Failure to follow the terms of a deal like this ONCE will not be punished (deal only enforced). However multiple times may result in punishment.

Pretty good knowing they'll just be banned again for a Terms of Service violation. (ToS bans should be immune from buying your way back in)

That’s if they were given the option to pay in the first place at all.

Besides that - breaking rules is like breaking the law. You cannot get out of jail just because you pay for it, when you committed a crime. People who had their fun ruined by a rule breaker will leave the server when said person can just pay money to ruin their fun again. And again. And again.

Huge -support from me.

I mean no offense and sorry to comment out of topic but.. cops break the rules all the time and they never get warned or anything for it and some ppl get banned for getting mad at the cops rule breaking yet its seen as fair? point kinda invalid =/ i mean i wish i can pay well i dont have $ so maybe in sweatcoins and get unbanned and i also wish cops dont get away with most of the rules they break =/ they ruin my fun and waste my time and time as in ive been banned for a YEAR and now been waiting months to appeal my perma cause of cops... AGAIN.. never changed soo... ya
