Although you may think what you did was not FearRP, but by the rules it was.

FearRP is not just about who pointed a weapon on who first, FearRP could be allot of different things in different scenarios anything that could endanger your life and that is something that you must be afraid of could count as fearRP.

Granted this isn't the typical FearRP case where someone has gotten out a weapon on another player first but it still counts as FearRP. In the rules section it states clearly under the basic rule play rules.
  • 2.1 You must follow FearRP – Your character must act afraid of life-threatening situations or of any weapons pointed at you.
  • 2.1f Do not run into or loiter around extremely dangerous or life-threatening situations, such as a fire or raid, as a citizen or someone without the appropriate job.
What you did was go after someone who already threatened your life with a dangerous weapon without knowing that the person has put-away their weapon therefore endangering your life. That could easily be normal and acceptable for different role-play scenarios as for you I find it very unlikely that a 'dodgy geazer' who's also a meth cook with a gas mask goes who goes after people half way through the city just because they were outside their slums area is an appropriate job or role-play to support your actions.

At that note, denied.
