So I'm here to tell you about a fun game that's keeping me busy nowadays, World of Warships.

Some of you might have heard of World of Warplanes or World of Tanks, two games operated by the same franchise (Wargaming.) In all three cases, it's about WW II era tech, being battled down in MMO style skirmish combats.

In World of Warships you basically control a warship of your choice, and there's 4 different classes to pick from. There are...

1) Destroyers - small, fragile, yet very fast and can torpedo the hell out of any other raft in their way
2) Cruisers - the every-man class, a mixture of good firepower and agility, some of them pack torpedoes too
3) Battleships - slow, heavily armored, yet pack one hell of a punch at alarmingly long ranges
4) Aircraft carriers - basically a game within a game, as their aerial operations provide a whole new level of gameplay

Here's a good introductory video

https://youtu.be/hOL-NwvY4MM

While the gameplay will seem very basic and straight forward, there's all the little thing you have to pay attention to. Such as avoiding torpedoes, bomber aircraft, other friendly ships and small islands, all while laying down heavy fire on your target. You've got to think ahead, shoot ahead, calculate and recalculate to assure your shells hit the enemy where it hurts the most. Despite the simple mechanics, the game packs a lot of physics, as you're forced to take into account the arch of your shelling, the speeds of both your craft and the target, choosing the right ammunition, picking out class specific weak spots and so on.

Currently, the game mostly features American and Japanese warships, with some premium (pay-to-win) Russian crafts, with British and German crafts still in testing. As history went to show, every nation has their own perks and downsides, for example Americans pack decent cannons while Japanese can torpedo the hell out of everything you love.

It's still in open beta, yet I encourage anyone with free time to at least give it a try. It can be mind blowing.

The only thing I recommend in World Of Warships, get some friends of the same level.

As in most games, playing with friends make everything more fun. You accidentally shoot them, they sink you, anger ensues, arguments go on for days over who shot whom and whether I should have killed 3 people on my own team just because I was shot by one person accidentally...

10/10 would recommend.

I remember looking at something like this with George awhile back. Whether or not this is the same game, I can't tell.

When I can grab some time, I'll be sure to check this out.

I've always liked War Thunder more, seeing how they're going to get warships added as well, nevertheless i'm gonna check this out as well and compare accordingly.

Just downloaded it.

I remember watching a video on it but it was in closed beta at the time. I'm glad that it's now available for everyone to play.

Installed - wow.

It's a very polished game for beta, and I do recommend it.

I might eventually get round to playing it. I never liked World of Tanks though.
