So I’ve heard that 3 players have decided to horde every single plate, because they were all reset and this update released at 11pm.

I can’t lie, this is extremely unfair on the 90% of the community that were asleep when this dropped.

Especially for some people that have always had the same plate. I have had “3” since 2016, I’m sure there are dozens of other players that have been absolutely shafted by this.

Yes this is a valid criticism and we’re discussing how we can improve in future. It was an oversight on my part that the server would auto restart due to player count being under 10. We also knew there would be a bit of a gold rush, but perhaps didn’t realise to what extent that would go with some of the hoarding, so for that I apologise.

There will be subsequent updates to also improve plate trading.

Is there no way to undo the hoarding? Limit the number of plates someone can own? Give everyone the opportunity to buy their old plate back for free? Etc.?

To have 3 people sitting on stock worth near $100,000,000, for about 10 minutes of work, and less than $2 mil investment is quite literally economy breaking. Now fair play to those 3 for having the initiative, but it is completely unfair on everyone else. Will there going to be any fixes to undo the damage that’s been done?

I think if there is a way to recovery everyone’s old plates that would be awesome.

Hopefully the market doesn’t shit itself, but with 1 plate already sold for 270k, it’s not looking good.

I don’t think we could limit hoarding without limiting the amount of vehicles someone can own and that’s not a great idea. The inventory weight mechanic should ideally play a part there but as we all know that’s in a bad state right now.

There may be a chance to something with plate recovery. I will discuss with the team tonight. I’m not committing to anything at this stage.

One thing I will mention is that 1 and i look the exact same with the font used on the plates. Is that something that’ll be fixed? As I feel it will cause massive confusion for people buying plates and also cops trying to warrant the car.

I love the dev work. Well done.
People sniping other people's unique usernames is just not it, though.
Similar to why copyright rules exist.
I think people's usernames, at least, should be protected.
Or worst case scenario:
Make license plates like the Blizzard battletag system: anyone can get any name, with a randomly generated set of numbers afterwards.
(You would type a word in the license plate UI, example: "MRZ", then it will show a plate like: MRZ-512. Then it will be saved as that until changed)
This way people can express themselves and use funny phrases, without them all being collected by 3 people.

I realised pretty much immediately anonymity was pointless because I'd have to add/message a dozen people anyways. The list is on my thread, if the owners come forward they can have them.

You're a saint Taylor. Wish that you didn't have to spend your money on doing that. I hope that it could somehow get reimbursed to you by the management after they make a change to the current license plate system.
