WHAT:
1: Remove the Paramedic Job and add the models and abilities to Fire Fighter. Increase Fire Fighter slots to compensate.

2: Allow Fire Fighters to choose equipment loads from the FD Locker (Similar to Law Enforcement)
  • Fire Fighting loadout with extra foam tanks, but minimal medical gear
  • Fire-Medic loadout with a balance of foam tanks and medical gear
  • Paramedic loadout with minimal foam tanks and extra medical gear

WHY:
Medical Training is required to be a Fire Fighter in a lot of the US, with the Fire Department arriving to Medical Calls and rendering aid before the ambulance arrives, or in the case of Fire Departments that also handle the Ambulance service, assist the Ambulance crew on the scene. By combining Fire and EMS into one job, but allowing a bit of specialization, it would help provide the crucial services that are unavailable when there is only a single Firefighter or Paramedic on.

Thank you for your suggestion, Stomm!

It will take a while for it to be reviewed by our staff-members.
Meanwhile, expect some nice feedback from our community.

I personally always preferred the distinction between both roles and their varying responsibilities

could say the exact same about police, or security guard or most job roles tbh.

I don't think that's really comparable. The server doesn't suffer when there's a security guard shortage, and their actual jurisdictions/equipment access/roles are very different once you get past the fact that they both detain people who are being twats.

The issue with the FD/Paramedic roles in the server is that their real life counterparts DO overlap a lot, and when it comes to how they operate in-server they basically only fill the role of first-responder (medical edition) anyway. The FD can actually end up very bloated considering the city only supports 2 garages. Paramedics usually need an ambo each and while you can carry 4 firefighters a truck, you usually end up with 2 a truck max. Merging it down helps the FD feel more full (rather than feeling like the jobs are half full when there's 2 firefighters and 2 paramedics).

I would also argue that this change is more akin to how the different aspects of the PD are usually pared down via the equipment locker (Detectives get the evidence kit in their primary slot, different roles in the PD are often distinguished by vehicle liveries, so on so forth), and since the server already struggles to even get one paramedic, and firefighters rarely have anything to do because they have to be on the job already for fires to turn into an actual problem, it might help solve the scarcity problem that at the moment makes shootouts appealing over negotiating because they skip the prison time.
