 Roadworker killed following freak highway collision

EVOCITY, ID - Private firefighters from the Weyland-Yutani Corporation's WY Safety station in EvoCity attended a horrific crash yesterday that took the life of a highway worker, named as Charlie Brown, and left a motorist, Torgrim Jackson, in intensive care with potentially life-changing injuries. 

In a press release, WY Safety said involved a truck which had hit a roadworker in the road, who became pinned under the truck's front left wheel. The trailer jackknifed across the second lane in the road, and hit a small car which was travelling at speed, which became crushed under the trailer with a man trapped inside. 

The county communications centre was notified of the incident at around 8pm, and notified the Marion County Fire Rescue dispatcher who dispatched a private rescue squad and private engine from WY Safety as first due units alongside MCFR's own Rescue Squad 1, as well as two ambulances. WY Safety also sent an emergency doctor to attend to the man crushed under the truck wheel.

WY Safety said that on arrival to the scene, they triaged and provided basic medical treatment to both casualties and stabilised the involved vehicles, sending for a doctor to attend Mr Brown, and releasing the other man, Mr Jackson, from his vehicle before sending him to hospital. Although they were able to release the other man from under the truck using an airbag, he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. 

Speaking on behalf of the Marion County Sheriff's Office's Highways Division, a spokesperson said "Our thoughts go out to the family of Mr Brown who was tragically killed in this incident, and we hope for a full and speedy recovery for Mr Jackson. We are currently investigating the full circumstances of the incident however we can confirm at this point in time that we have arrested the driver of the truck on a charge of driving while under the influence of drugs. We will not release any more information at this time."
