It's not about hacking, what criminals do is they find a matching vehicle (same color etc) take that plate and use it on their temp vehicle, thus a fake name would come up if the police ran it.

That's not the point... The plate could be totally made up with no name attached to it at all... The police knows "Aha its a fake one" but not who comitted the crime. @Markus

Well, yea that is exactly what I said. If it just showed no result, it would be good.

It could also be a stolen one which would end up showing the Police a made up name in-game without hacking though... Basically stolen from a NPC whatsoever.

It's up to the community and staff to decide whether this will be implemented and then to the devs on how exactly they implement this - it doesn't need to have to do with any sort of hacking or so... Decay explained how it would work quite well.

mostly because right now it's already hard enough for cops to find people. Stolen cars have 0 links to the people who stole them unless you find them sat in it, there is no need to buy a property and people squat in them with contra. 

Basically, unless cops can have some more ways to link people to crimes then -support from me.

Also make exempt plates lockpick stealable from police vehicles.
Also make players with "rep plates" revert to lower "rep plates" or "default" if wanted via F3.

And in real life, there is an easy way to identify that the plate is fake because licence plates IRL are linked to certain area's of the country, and it's stupidly rare that a criminal finds a plate to fit the same colour and make car, for the same year the car was registered into the country, for the same area the vehicle and plate are registered to. What is being proposed here has no work around to seeing if a plate is fake or not, thus completely making car registrations useless to police and serve no factor in the gamemode.

If the feature is going to be implemented, there needs to be ways around finding the real plate and who the real owner is.

When searching the fake plate on the DB it should definitely not be another person. Simply a message telling you that the plate is indeed fake.

It's more the way that it's been put now, there is no work around and it is very hard which is why we are suggest potential work arounds or just to not have it at all

Fake plates happen all the time in UK especially on stolen mopeds/bikes. They put any plate on it so the cameras don't flag it.

I just dont see any fun when suddenly every criminal drives around with a fake plate causing dozens of crimes and then simply say /me hands over fake ID /it lol my ID is fake but looks real.
Now the cop checks plate, its uh empty. Well guess this person who just killed 10 gov members will get 1 minute for driving with a fake plate.
Ofc this was a bit exaggerated (or was it?) But I see only more bad than good things that come with that.
