Fake license plates - Decay - Dec 27, 2019
Explain your suggestion, in detail: A fake license plate that you can buy from a BMD. This could be placed on your car and you get to chose a fake name for it, when cops run it, it won't come back to your character but to a bogus name and a bogus address. This would last until your car is stored in the garage (inventory)
Explain why the suggestion should be implemented
Because if you do crime and you for some reason has to abandon your car the cops can just scan its plates, put a BOLO/warrant on you and then when they find you and search you and find the ID which you're always carrying around with no option to not have on you, the criminals would at least get some edge.

Criminals usually always use fake license plates when they need their car to do something criminal so this suggestion would fit. To keep it more balanced though, I'd suggest to not sell the fake license plates for too low... Otherwise those fake license plates would always be used on the server.
I also thought about what would happen if they were stealable but in the end that might end in false arrests etc, so rather not, but buyable, sure.

I can see some good RP opportunities from this. Especially thousands of traffic stops to control if the vehicle you're pulling over has a valid plate uwu

I’d also consider the license plates coming back as unregistered / no existent on some occasions, gives more RP foundations during traffic stops, asking to compare their address with whatever the license plate comes back with.

I support the suggestion as long as something similar to this is put in place. The only thing us police have is the BOLO issued on a licence plate and for us to have that taken away from us, basically all criminals will now get away with crime. I feel like it'll end up leading to more metagaming, but if police have the option to find out someone is using a fake plate then I don't see why not

I'll be honest. This would be a fun idea, but not a realistic one. Licenseplates are handled by an internal database for the police and I am pretty sure this would be unplausible to implement.
If it would come back as "No information", then I would be on board.

Yes, license plates are handed out on an official basis etc, but everybody can remove his license plate and just add a fake one though? @Markus

Yes, however it would be very hard to hack into the database for it to show a non-existant person's name, I believe.
Someone knowledgable can correct me if I'm wrong.

That's not the point... The plate could be totally made up with no name attached to it at all... The police knows "Aha its a fake one" but not who comitted the crime. @Markus

Well, yea that is exactly what I said. If it just showed no result, it would be good.
