Application Process

At the ATF, we strive for only the best, most active and most knowledgeable Special Agents. It's a career unlike any other, with a number of interesting and diverse career paths to follow - we have Special Agents specialising everything from being a forensics expert, to an ammunition technician (bomb disposal expert) or even an operational medic. 

Application

To begin the process, you'll need to submit an application to us for review. You can find our application template below. To join the ATF as a Special Agent, you'll need to be 21 at the time of appointment (the time you become a Special Agent) and be a United States Citizen. Unless you are a preference eligible veteran, we do not accept applications for agents over the age of 36. You must be willing to submit to a thorough background check in order to receive (depending on role) security clearance from ATF RESTRICTED all the way up to US SECRET. We'll review this application and get back to you with whether or not you are accepted to the next stage.

It's important to note that your application being accepted does not necessarily mean that you will become an ATF Agent, there are still a number of steps which we need to carry out.

Stage One

Assessment & Interview Days

Upon being accepted, you will be considered a "Candidate Special Agent Stage 1 (S1)". This does not mean that you are a Special Agent, rather a candidate for the position. Stage One consists of an assessment and interview day at the ATF Field Office, Evocity where you will undergo a series of tests designed to test your physical and mental fitness, aptitude and suitability, as well as common sense and ability to follow commands. You will also undergo an interview with our recruitment board, who will also observe the tests and will decide whether or not to advance you to Stage Two.

Stage Two

Training

Upon passing Stage One, and once all vetting and security checks are complete you will be invited to attend our basic training course at the Federal Training Centre Evocity, where you will complete three units. Our first unit is the Law Enforcement Skills unit, which gives candidates a basic understanding of law enforcement and teaches vital skills important in law enforcement. The next unit taught is Firearms Handling, during which agents will learn and receive their ATF authorisation to use pistols from the authorised list, and also to utilise a shotgun where permitted by a supervisor. The course also teaches recruits how to maintain their weapon, and also how to make safe a number of unfamiliar weapons systems. The final unit taught in basic training is the ATF Skills section, which teaches recruits in-depth about ATF functions and duties, and also teaches recruits how to conduct investigations successfully. At the discretion of the Special Agent-in-Charge, S2 Candidates may "shadow" ATF operations unarmed in order to gain experience and practical understanding.

Providing agents do well in the academy, they will pass out at the end and be promoted to the rank of Probationary Special Agent. At this point, you will be sworn in, receive your badge and personal defence equipment, and be assigned to the General Duties division for a probationary period. 

Probation & Advancement

Finally, after the two stages of candidacy you will be promoted to the rank of Probationary Special Agent and receive your badge. You will then complete 3 weeks of probation in the General Duties Division. During this time, you must be accompanied by a Special Agent at all times, but you will also have the same powers as a Special Agent. 

After the Probationary Period, if your line manager is entirely satisfied you will be promoted to Special Agent and permitted to join the Criminal Investigation division, or advance into a specialised role. Occasionally, there may be opportunities for roles within the Management division, however these generally require holding a rank.

As per our applications policy, we have a set programme for training and probation to take place. This means that you need to be able to attend the training dates as we announce them, and our applications will be periodically closed whilst we train a new batch of recruits.

IC Requirements

- Between the age of 21 and 36 at the time of appointment.
- No prior criminal record.
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be willing to submit to a thorough background check.
- Must act honourably both on and off duty.

OOC Requirements

- Good activity, should be willing to take part in regular clan RPs. (>4 hours pm)
- Good reputation within the community. 
- No more than 6 blacklists, five of which should not be within the last month.
- No more than 4 bans, all of which should not be within the last month.
- A good roleplay ability. We expect you to have a good grasp of RP.

PRESS RELEASE - NEW ROCKFORD FIELD OFFICE

Residents of Rockford, 

I'm glad to announce, along with Assistant Deputy Director Moore (@"Faustin") that our new Rockford Field Office, now located at 335 Grif. Drive at the Mesa Apartments Complex, is under construction and nearing completion.

Gone are the days where we were working out of pre-existing local facilities, due to crime increases in Rockford, we have been given the budget to create a new, purpose built facility to house our agents and equipment. The new facility will give us the space and resources to complete investigations and hold prisoners independently, which will free up local law enforcement detention facilities being used for ATF investigations. 

Furthermore, our new office will have a public lobby, allowing members of the public to come in and find out more about the ATF and it's work.

RECENT OPERATIONS

Residents of Rockford, 

In the interests of transparency, and to give citizens an insight into the variety of operations and investigations that the ATF participates in, we have released a selection of cases from the last week that the ATF have been involved in.

HOSTAGE SITUATION

Today, we supported the Rockford Police Department by providing federal assistance with a number of cases. At the direct request of the Governor, Woody Mac, (@"Gamerpro2266") the ATF investigated and intervened in a hostage situation.




After holding a briefing at PD, we moved out to locate a number of television screens which were reportedly reported around Rockford.



Our CID Special Agents Craddock (@"Faustin") and Holland (@"Stell90") along with myself quickly located a TV screen tied to the fence of the fire department. The TV Screen appeared to show a man in some kind of tube with a button attached. The anonymous tip received by the ATF stated that he would be killed live on television. Agents quickly noticed from the walls behind the man that the television was being broadcast from Rockford Customs, and very quickly we sent a SRT (Special Response Team) to the location.





Agents very quickly moved in to breach the door of the suspected location and gain entry.





Unfortunately, the story had a dark ending. I'm sad to announce that upon gaining entry to the warehouse, there were no traces of the previous owner or setup other than an unidentified body lying in the middle of the warehouse. We respectfully bagged the body and notified the coroner to transport it to the morgue. At this time the man remains unidentified.

FIGHTING CORRUPTION

As many residents of Rockford will be aware, the ATF has been involved in a federal, state and local cooperative task force that seeks to eradicate corruption in Rockford at both the local, state and federal level. Yesterday, the ATF portion of this task force were notified by the RPD of a suspected corrupt officer with ties to the Rosato Family organised crime group, who attempted to assist the kidnapping of a senior police officer.

Our convoy made it's way to the location of the officer. On arrival, SRT surrounded the man and performed a felony arrest, before transporting him to a waiting police cruiser, where he was transported under protection back to the Rockford Police Department.

At the PD, the officer was interrogated by ATF Agents about corruption, organised crime and weapons trafficking links. At this time we cannot release any more information on the case due to it's ongoing nature.

WEAPONS HAUL

After a recent surveillance and raid, the details of which cannot currently be released due to an ongoing investigation, ATF Agents (@"Stell90")(@Judge Rage) confiscated a large amount of illegal firearms and ammunition being stored in open, unsafe conditions from a location in the business district of Rockford City, Marion County. Attached are some pictures of the weapons, which are believed by CID to have been destined for use by traffickers and illegal organised crime groups. 

Details of the investigation are currently classified.
