Before I begin, this IS a serious area to discuss the topic, not an are to flame, or go off-topic. Talk about it, don't bloody argue for once.

So,
It's a constant topic that people bring up, and question on. What is happening to LimeLight?

Many say it's because it's exam season. I agree yet also disagree.
Agree: For me also, it's time to study, not play games. Although I do : )
Disagree: Although exam season, there are normally still many more players on at times that are no longer. I am 99% sure that there are not 15-25 active players that are currently sitting exams

What ways, or what things (as a community) could we do to bring it back to what it was. Or, make it more than what it was?
I still personally think another gamemode such as Deathrun, Jailbreak, TTT or something a like would be good for the community, or have another game introduced to the community (My other thread about that)

OR
Maybe i'm jumping to conclusions, and maybe we need to just wait a little bit for the community to bring itself back.

What's your opinion on the matter?

A divided community that suffers from the lack of no real brotherhood or genuine companionship.

Scares people off

At first: Thanks BasicallyMental for making a post about it.

I have no idea why limelight is slwoly dieing but I feel like something new could attract former players to return and play on the server again (e.g. a map change). That's probably what we need as former palyers know the rules, know ow to RP etc.
I see many new players on the server as well but I feel like they didn't came to LL, knowing it is a RP server as they start actig like this would be the new darkRP.

Will probably add something later.

This has happened every year even when we were at the old community. It's not dieing at all so dont be worried.

Development and our business officers have put together a long term plan for our updates this year so we're tracking well in that regard.

As Obay said, you'll see soon enough.

Well, how long will that be?
I feel as though the community lacks updates and / or communication from the staff + development team in regard to how the server is doing, meaning they loose hope and move to other places where it is more involved
If soon enough isn't quick enough. We may not see that soon enough

Only reason I mention this -btw- is because there has been so much questioning within the community on where LL is going yet nothing has been said aside we will see and at least a month (that i've been here, longer for others) there has been nothing. Nothing = no hope

The server "that shall not be named", has been around for roughly eight years; this is our second year. This time last year we were in the exact same position and if anything a much dire situation. We recovered from that tremendously and are still around to show for it.

The fact that we do get players, the server is supervised by moderation staff and that the development team is working on larger contracts, clearly shows me how strong our position is.

Basic I've spoken to you over TeamSpeak about our community direction so I am confused as to what you're talking about quite frankly. Our developers have been contracted to work on larger, more interactive systems that will be implemented into our gamemode. It isn't my place to disclose the full details of those updates, but as a long term player and staff member I know that I'm sticking around for them.

Guys the days when we used to pump out a stupid amount of updates was cool, we achieved smaller things. We are at a stage now where we can afford to achieve greater things owing to the amount of resources available (funding, amount of available developers). Limelight is aiming for much larger and much more entertaining updates which is why things have been a little slower.

Some of you may recall that I made a thread regarding community newsletters from the staff. This is in the works and we will release the first issue (June  2017), around the start of next month give or take a few days.

Your questions are welcomed and we aim to resolve any concerns anyone has.

Eh, I hate to say it - But I agree the server is dying. Limelight lacks a fundamental component of gaming: Fun.

It's not to say that Limelight isn't fun, but it lacks fun in many ways.

We have an over-saturation of rules, limit silly/goofy roleplay and have a lack of entertaining content.

Let's face it City RP and Limelight in particular are suffering from the lowest player numbers ever experienced, the server is on a decline. The decline is extremely slow, but it's happening.

Limelight also suffers a lack of community, because fun and banter is sometimes stifled, it's quite hard to come together as a community. The barrier to entry is also MASSIVE, you join the server and get slapped around for not knowing the 1000 rules, and the community isn't overly receptive to new players on the server. This combined with a lack of blatantly fun content creates a quite serious environment that deters many people. We pride ourselves on being very professional and mature as a community, but over-doing it can drive new players away.

But going back to the core issues, our community has no clear direction. What is our purpose? It's like we don't come together and figure out what we're going to do. We're all here together, part of a community with a lot of great people, what is our end-goal? We've never addressed these fundamental questions: Who are we, why are we here, where do we come from, what is our purpose, how serious are we, what is our end goal, do we aspire to be a multi-game community, etc, etc.

So the community has no real direction, we don't do anything to connect as a whole community - so of course there's a limited sense of community.

It's hard to come into the server and understand what is happening, and if there's no funny or entertaining content or things happening - it's not overly fun is it... The playerbase may or may not be receptive to you if you ask questions, depending on the person, you have to be really invested to stick around. This combined with a lack of community mentality makes it hard for Limelight to thrive.

This is really a super super brief version of in-depth discussions I've had within the staff team. I know 90% of the things I just said are disappointing and bad, but I do have faith in everyone. Our staff and developer team have great passion, drive, and maturity - something that many communities lack. We also have many fantastic people in the community that stick with us, even if the overall sense of community isn't great. One of the major things I'm trying to work on as a business adviser is increasing the short-term activity and fun, and bringing forward a long-term vision that everyone can share and work towards as a community. These hopes are shared by HR, developer and the admins as well, and we're all working very hard to change things into a more fun direction. We're working on major updates, and hope to share our long term vision in the near future.

The speak we had was a good one, and my comment was generally speaking as hearing what I did hear from you was nice to hear, but, I don't think it was enough to keep the mentality going as what we are looking for as a community is something to look forward to, something to stick around for and as we (the community) are not being told anything, it means we lack the want / the need to stick around to see that end goal of LimeLight.
I understand we had our talk, and as I said, it was amazing to be able to sit there and finally be able to community with one of the staff team, however, it's the fact that that was the first time, and what seems to be so far the last as staff generally are very secretive (Which is understandable), and only ever sit in their rooms communicating with familiar faces. I'm not saying that they need to always be speaking to people they don't know, but just every so often would be nice.
From my perspective, it would be nice for staff to pop by sometimes and just speak to some unfamiliar faces, communicate with the community.

Maybe I'm wrong though, and it's just me that misses out in the discussions with the staff.

There is a nice weather outside. You have 2 options.

1. Go outside with your friends.
2. Stay at home.

I think many will choose the option 1. I select that too. That's my theory.
