Suggestion for in-game

In detail, explain your suggestion:
Adjust weapon sounds to a lower volume and/or edit the distance they can be heard at full volume or how much the sound volume decreases at distances.

Why should this be implemented?
At the moment weapon sound volume is way too high and I can't hear anything else in the city when a fire fight begins somewhere else in the city (even in some basement, indoors etc). I have to lower sound volume, but then I have to volume voice chat and everything else because gmod has only 2 volume sliders:
Game volume which is master volume since it also affects voice chat volume and I have voice chat already set to maximum volume and I literally can't hear a thing without having the game's master volume at a level at which weapon sounds not even close to me are way too loud and probably harm my hearing if I don't lower or mute the game's volume during a shootout which isn't even nearby.

In addition, weapon sounds can't be heard necessarily far but they do seem to be very loud at all distances they can be heard, then they suddenly disappear.

In a map this small this can be very annoying and I do get the fact that some people think it's realistic but when a shootout occurs I just want to mute the game so I don't get ear damage and wish no one ever used guns which doesn't make this enjoyable tbh. I want to enjoy my game, it doesn't matter to me if it's at the cost of realism.

Besides I recently finished my military service and I can tell the assault rifles (rk62, an ak derivate) doesn't sound nearly as loud as all these weapons on the server at different distances at volume settings with which I can hear voice chat (approximately) fine.

Guns are loud and echo in cities, therefore carrying the sound.

+support for me.

The gunshots are by far the loudest thing in the game. Even when I'm in my Suburban with sirens blaring, a gun battle halfway across the map can make it impossible for me to hear my own sirens. I do think it should be toned down.

If I'm not using my headphones, I can play the game on the speakers with the kids watching tv, until a gunfight starts and I have to mute the game as it distracts the entire household.

Why would you not use headphones while playing a game where people scream "nigger" and "faggot" every 20 seconds, while you have kids in the house. I'm not telling you how to be a parent though just seems really bad imo

I usually do.  But sometimes I have to listen to what is going on in the background while I'm also focused on what is going on in the game.  I have to be aware of what is going on behind me.  Part of being a good parent.  And believe me, it isn't that often that I hear those words.  A lot of what I do is log research and ticket entries and watching from a distance.  There is mostly debates between who shot who.

You want realism on a server where weapons have unrealistic recoil, makes sense.

+Support.

It will be the users own fault if they do not hear a gunfight. As long as the maximum volume is it's current it will be fine. The users that change the firing noise will only have the disadvantage.

As much realism as you want, an ability to change it would not make too much of a difference. Players can have hearing problems and after-all it's a game. It says Adjustable - You can choose whether you want it to be loud as hell or as quiet as a mouse depending on your hearing.

I want realism on a server where firefights happen 24/7 and whoever goes near one is easy pickings for the shooter. Smile

Neutral.

While I agree that guns are loud, that's kinda the point.
People have perhaps just gotten too used to the sound of them.

Ever shot a real gun? There's a reason you don't try to have a conversation while at the gun range.

Not to mention, if we lowered it, suppressors would never be used. If you use one, you'll notice it actually DOES it's purpose.
