Thing is, source was never made to handle the quality of content Garry's mod has nor the way roleplay maps work.
Basically, garry's mod will never run any map better than 40-60 fps and that is because the engine was expected to handle smaller areas with low detail props, instead what most roleplay maps have is huge open maps + the quality of most vehicles, guns, playermodels, props on the workshop quickly reaches the limit of what source can handle at once and then we see huge drops from +60 fps to the point of single digits. So no matter the map, people will lag out, how much depends on your computer and future optimization updates from both limelight and facepunch.
Regardless of FPS would it not be nice for Limelight to have a custom map anyways like it makes the server look alot more established thats for sure.

The cost of developing a map would be very large, as would the resources it'd take. If it's going to happen, we would need to all chip in to hire an actual map dev..I mean I wouldn't be surprised if a good, large and unique map would cost well over $1000..
