What do you think about a police whitlelist? It could stop the police's force abuse... I'm open for it and would support it!

No, no and no...
It would seriously limit the number of police officers online, advantaging criminals. I was a shitty police officer once, and I learnt with time. I would like to see tho an hands-on training on how to perform procedures.
We don't need to make the police an elite force, but it is needed to explain to new players how to play the game. Everyone has been a newbie once and everyone has made some mistakes. No need to make it harders for new police RP'ers.

It's a beautiful idea and I don't think we should be limited. Just because we are the gooey center of RP doesn't mean we can't have a good police force. I actually think I have a suggestion for it...

However realistically, no one will agree with it (except for the few that understand how important whitelisting teams is). We're a kind of server that you hop onto and play and sadly that won't fit the bill (even though it could just be a simple little quiz you take). At the end of the day, it deters players that aren't in it for the long haul and just wanna shoot robbers and a flashy cruiser.

I completely agree with Soviet and his suggestion that, I also believe, he made before.

I think a whitelist is necessary for a job that enables you to take away someone's freedom on the server, gives you a firearm, a taser, a baton, a spike strip and a teleport stick that'll take someone to the correctional facility in a heartbeat.

I'd honestly like to see a Whitelist, this job can get abused to often. Although I believe that it would be hard to make a system that works as many new players seem to enjoy PoliceRP the most.

Okay, so some people agree with me and think a whitelist would be useful. Now I'm interested in what you think a whitelist would look like?
A TS-interview, a forum thread, a in-game quiz, etc.?

I wanted to suggest that too, but then I remembered I came here with 0 hours too and I don't think my roleplay was thaaaat bad. ...Right?

See, the problem with assuming someone's ability to do something based on a number that would ''represent'' your roleplay hours (I know, it represents your time spent on Limelight, but people often don't see it that way) is that you don't know anything about that person's background to start with. For all you know he/she already has quite a few years of roleplay on their background.

Thing is, the only way to test someone's ability to take such a role (and not just this one) (semi-)seriously would be a whitelist and a (little) set of randomized questions to check someone's knowledge or at least willingness to learn (in which there would be a bunch of FTOs/supervisors at the ready to pass certain knowledge off to them).
I know a few things myself and I am sure there are many others in the community that can contribute to that, so a whitelist with a training program (for those that require it) could be quite interesting.

I just think the emergency force (presidents, vice-presidents, secret service agents/special agents, law enforcement officers, firefighters and paramedics) can be improved and a whitelist would certainly be the way to start that.

A TS-interview, a forum thread, a in-game quiz, etc.?

I don't think a forum thread would be the way to go. If you're going to whitelist a certain department, I think there should be people that lead that department.

This system would be very simple and keep in mind, it's just a template:

Chief of Police
Any supervisors/ranks below that/FTO's
Actual whitelisted LEOs.

Both the Chief of Police and the FTO's could do interviews on people (or maybe different people for different activities or categories of the interview). The interviews would be in form of a locked TeamSpeak channel and a set of randomized questions or in-game in case an in-game activity would have to be performed and the TeamSpeak channels would be flooded for some reason.

Next to interviews, I also think in-game tests such as driving tests, testing the ability to learn and understand when to use lethal force and when it's better to use less lethal force or no force at all, psychological evaluation/physical tests and maybe even a dupe made for testing physical (''Fitness for Duty'' evaluation), scenarios on a case-to-case basis, etc.

And next to in-game evaluation, we (if I would be a FTO or supervisor of some type or rank) could then order the applicant or recruit to partner up with someone that has been whitelisted as a LEO previously and have shown the ability to give a detailed and trustworthy evaluation on the applicant/recruit.

Don't worry, there are a bunch of things we can do after a person is applying for whitelisting. I actually was a recruiter (and Captain of a specialized unit) a few years ago in a community so I am sure that with the help of a few others, some management, this could definitely be done.

Hours don't equal skill.

A player with 62 hours just went on a Mass RDM spree yesterday

Players with hundreds of hours have a list of punishments.

Area 525 (I think is his username) has below 20 hours and I've seen him do better at trying to RP as police than most veteran players.

I am damn hyped. It must've been that powerful essay I wrote just up there.

So I can assume you'll be the new Chief of Police? Chief @Soviethooves? Cool
