I'd really like some more open spots in mainstreet, for stands and such. I've experienced the only room I've had for my stands are really narrow and clumsy spots.

That is a good idea, how about a central square?  With a fountain in the direct center and areas around it for vendors and events.  You can have the downtown areas surrounding it.  Rather like Indianapolis for example:

If we got a central square it would be great if we would have some higher buldings (not too high) around this place for maybe some "cool" presidential assassination and also great possibilities for the Secret Service to secure this area.

I would love to have a big, realistic bank building and a vault.

Multiple entrances
Roof entrance (incase there is a heist in progress, for the SWAT team)
Office area
Big vault door
and so on.
