I meant when picking the dropped weapon up

Ah, I see what you mean now. That would actually make a lot of sense.

Perhaps you could /drop the weapon instantly, but it couldn't be picked up for the 2-3 minutes? This would also help with the RP aspect, as it would be beneficial for criminals to try to hide their weapons rather than simply keeping them equipped, meaning that the police could search for the weapon in question, locking down the area for a while until some evidence is found.

And to improve it RP wise, if the weapons ID isn't scratched you can see who it belongs to. You can scratch the weapon maybe using a schematic. Just a thought.

This would be a great and important change for the community, so I'm glad that there may be some progression with this.
An idea I have is that removing the whole /holster command and instead of using the command to put away your weapon, you would go back to your home/house/base and store back your weapon in a locker. The same lockers that you can store items in.

Once the weapon is in the locker it would be there for 5 mins before it gets stored in to your invetory, during those 5 mins the locker could be searched and or looted.

I'd prefer like /drop makes the weapon turn into a prop that cannot be picked up by others forever until a cop come to desultory or confiscate it +support

Or that could be picked up, but go straight in your tool belt instead.
