There's a lot of good ideas here, especially regarding combat and our PvP system. Hindsight is definitely 20/20 and there are certainly a lot of changes I think we can reverse or remove entirely going forward.
The main problem I see here and in the suggestions forum is that there's no real cohesion or consistency between a lot of suggestions we get. That's perfectly understandable, but if we want to have a some really-well developed gameplay systems we have to stop adding lots of small things that have no impact elsewhere. You could probably strip out 50% of the gamemode and have the same core gameplay right now. Of course, it's good to have small things that add depth, but they should each have their own place within a system or be usable by multiple different systems, I think.
MESKA is a great start to fixing this - most dev effort went into the core system so that we can easily expand on it and apply it to other systems as we upgrade those. But it's going to be wasted potential if we just start adding one or two MESKA hooks into loads of small systems, rather than focusing on and really developing some major systems in great depth.
With this approach it would make sense to actually strip out a lot of the unnecessary fat from the gm - in some cases, this could help significantly with optimisation and FPS, though how much remains to be seen.
PvP is more tricky, and it's been so long since I've played that I can't really comment on it. The same is true for MESKA, really, but at least there I can have a strong overview of the technical side and how our systems interact, and then balance is handled by other staff/suggestions.
We recently had a pretty good meeting with some constructive community members to change the racism rule. I think it'd be well-worth having a serious of meetings with a similar group to get earlier feedback on the long-term dev plan and guide efforts. If there's interest in this, please send me a message on Discord or something and I can start to organise it.
With the introduction of MESKA, focus on stuff that already exist first. The update thread has "mining" and "smelting" as future skills, but I hope that stuff like cooking and contraband is done first before necessarily adding "new" skills to the gamemode. Just like in game development, if your MVP (Minimal Viable Product) isn't fun adding more content won't do any good. I think we've gone way past adding extra content before even reaching a suitable MVP for LL (One that separates us from competition).
New map (Sorry eh, but Canada sucks), fix the god damn lag and crashing before we have to lock the dev team in a cellar with a car battery and last but certainly not least, put focus back on RP.
I was surprised to see so much talk about guns and PvP, the least interesting part of any RP community. I honestly thought we were past this with RB6S and CS:GO taking the lead for good shooters.
The skill system has a lot of potential if used right, but from what I've seen so far I'm not too impressed. Having a cook being able to make better food, a mechanic more options to customise vehicles, criminals better/more valuable drugs, etc. would all be great additions.
Oh, and a lot of small things need to be fixed/cleaned or outright removed. The fact that it took so long to finally get rid of the Poker Table was catastrophic.
Some items/commands currently not working correctly:
- Vehicle tracker
- /map
- Trucks not being able to hold their load (making transportation of any entity a pain and ruins a lot of otherwise cool RP's)
And I'm sure there's tonnes more.
I hate to sound negative, but I was really disappointed when coming onto the server after over half a year to see that not only had nothing noteworthy been added, fixed or improved upon, but things had become broken and the population diminished to the point of being a single player experience with the occasional cluster fuck of general minges taking over the server with no intention to RP.
Sorry, eh.

I agree with all of this, the last large content update I can remember was the New Emergency Vehicles. This made Undercover Cop RP and all emergency RP skyrocket. It's not all down to the player to RP the Dev team need to add things to help them RP like the Emergency Vehicles. I give Limelight another 6 months if we carry on going how we are. The Server peaks 20 people a day if you're lucky. I remember having to wait in a queue because there were 80 people on... That's because there was a new update almost every day.

I said it. Rockford is a much nicer map than Evo. Theres a lovely beach and Ravine. Theres an actual PD instead of it being built into the Nexus. The FD is nice and big with a fire pole! The Hospital is also nice with its own garage. And the properties actually had numbers unlike evo. Shall I go on?
To be honest, I doubt there is. There used to be a spark about limelight, but I feel that’s gone. The old staff teams, old development teams. I preferred the old gamemode and the old style of roleplay. This community is fucking toxic and the roleplay is just not existent. Fearless is better in terms of roleplay now and that’s not happened since the split.
You can’t fix the community you’ve got, and I feel that’s what’s killing the server. The community and roleplay standards

Honestly you're absolutely bang on unless we've just grown out of bad standards or something but all (okay maybe most) roleplay is just so half assed now and the staff don't really seem to make anything too engaging like they used to either. I remember old staff used to build cool things and make cool roleplays which in turn would make me want to do the same thing but after coming on after the map change I realised this and I agree that I don't think anything will change unless we get rid of this cess pit of a community that is, in a way, split and we get people on and engaged in roleplay. But in my opinion I can't see any of what I just said happening in the near future sadly because no one seems to believe in this server anymore.

Bring this person back and you shall see the change <--
Weren't they demoted? Do you really think bringing back someone who couldn't follow staff guidelines is a key person to bring back?

Everyones makes mistakes and they mistake they made was a joke it literally done no harm, but you have to admit when joley was a moderator they were consistently making RP events for the players to engage in and from what im being told now its seen once every blue moon, Joley brought alot of Entertaining and Fun Roleplays which always got players involved. All im saying is that atleast when they were a mod they were trying and making the most of what they have. (not tryna say staff are boring or anything just pointing out joley's efforts) (I know other mods who do also make RP events as frankly as they can)
Welker makes RP’s
Marsh makes RP’s
Stell makes RP’s
Goigle makes RP’s
Night makes RP’s
Daley makes RP’s
I could keep going but it would be redundant and require me to name literally almost every member in this community. The only reason people don’t see RP’s is because they expect something big and unique to be a RP, when in reality a good cop or shop RP can be an excellent experience if effort is put into it. The issue isn’t that there aren’t people with good RP’s, it’s a problem of most people don’t put effort into acknowledging those RP’s and joining them.
I’d rather see the staff members that aren’t breaking rules be continuously encouraging their RP’s whether they are individual or open instead of allowing people that have broken said rules to be staff again just to make “RP’s”. Which is another thing...staff do more than that, and one of those attributes is set an example. Something, no offense to him, Joley couldn’t do.
