In 1999 the American action-adventure horror movie 'The Mummy' hit our screens for the first time making $415 million in the box office. The film staring Brendan Fraser, Rachel Weisz and Arnold Vosloo received another two installments 'The Mummy Returns' & 'The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor' which both did great in the box office.

In April 2012, 4 years after the final film Universal Studios announced that they will be making a reboot of the franchise with Jon Spaihts to write and Sean Daniel who produced the first 3 films to reprise his role. The film is set to debut in 2017 staring Tom Cruise, Sofia Boutella & Courtney B Vance. The film will take place in modern day & will release in June 2017 .
