So, the basic system has been implemented. It seems very popular and has increased the server player-counts a little, and a lot of people have reported that they're just happy to have a legal way to make money, even if it is very basic.

What do you think about the amount earned? It's fairly substantial, but is of course nowhere near as good as the potential payouts from meth.

Botting has become a concern - I'll be addressing this shortly with some runescape-like countermeasures, in which the axe breaks, wasps could spawn, and the tree could get cut down. Do you have any suggestions here?

If I make trees cut down, how frequent should this be? Should I add other trees elsewhere across the map? I think that I'll leave the best logging area near the lake on both maps, as it's a nice location, but perhaps add one or two individual clumps of trees elsewhere around the map. How long should trees remain stumps before regrowing?

Should the NPC stop buying logs at night-time, and only during the day?

As I said on steam, loads of tree spots(bar, bar road, lake, other forest places on the maps)
To combat botting, axe durability, tree health and sizes.

People are only using auto clicking because they can, plus it is quite boring just sat looking at something madly clicking away.
And no, you could not detect it, because people are spamming their button all the time for the server to get past 1 second, so you'd end up fucking innocent people.
Just look at what I posted to get rid of auto clickers with durability, tree health etc.

I like the current system really. There is a flood of people right now but that will die down.

More areas may be good but you should be wary for future planning. If farming is coming you may need room for that for example.  There are a lot of good spots around.

Having trees be cut down could be good to break up the camping that is going on. Respawning shouldn't be too long though. Five minutes?

Overall though, very happy with this first legal money making option! We are on the right track.

I really like the new system and am happy there is a way for passive money gain, I personally think we should have tress scattered around the map and have the tress cut down and have them respawn say after 5 minutes maybe?

Maybe have it so your axe wears down after a certain time and possibly could be repaired maybe? We could incorporate the wood into the crafting system and use it to repair the axe.

Possibly have it so the bot disappears at night time as irl you wouldn't stand in a certain place 24/7 doing work.

I reckon there should be other areas where trees are located throughout the map. Perhaps there can be different types of trees that produce each of their own type of wood, for example pine and oak.

Also, once crafting has been developed and added I reckon more axes should be introduced that cannot be bought from the market but must be crafted. These axes should have limited durability but can be fixed again through crafting with certain materials.

Execution is really bad in my opinion, no offence intended. This is literally no better than contrafarming, but infact is more tedious in the current fashion, and for some reason offers money at a much more rapid rate.

What, in my opinion, would be a better idea, is to follow the WoW profession system to some degree. Put many spawn points for the trees around the map, and allow them to be cut down. After they're cut down, they'll disappear for a random length of time between say, 5-120 minutes. That'll mean rather than sitting there doing nothing (Like contraband), people will actively have to drive around, and move around the map, which comes with it's own risks. (Getting robbed, ran over ,crashing etc.) It's also active, making the woodcutting addition actual content.

You could also expand upon it, with different varieties of trees offering different amount of pine etc.



And the payoff, at least in this market's price system, is ridiculously high, for no risk. It's also not any fun, doing the same thing for hours, mindlessly. It's literally all the negative points of contrafarming, but without any player risk, and an increased payout for some reason. At least if the player had to activly search for the tree, the current payout would make a bit more sense, to coincide with the extra work put into actually finding said tree.

Meh that can all be scene from the other point of view though. A lot of people like it, I find it calming and easy to do. I think the payout is fine as its more based off of investing in more inventory space to get larger take backs. It will become more advanced but I think its fine.

I get how some people may like it. sometime's it's nice to do mindless thing such as that, but in my opinion, there's enough of that in the game with contra, fishing and such. I just see woodcutting potentially turning into a missed opportunity of making a 'unique', fun and interesting piece of content for the gamemode. As much as I've loved a lot of the recent updates, actual gameplay hasn't differed massively. This was something which I was hoping would be a very fun thing to do on 'low down' times, so to speak, but I can see it potentially getting very boring, very quickly. I mean all you're doing is clicking a button!

I think the payout is good in regards to most items, but not vehicles. I just don't think vehicles scale well in value, in this economy, but I've ranted enough about that so will let bygones be bygones.

Jono, I do agree. I'm not going to change anything too drastically, but I'll be adding more tree spawns around the map, and also making it so that trees can become stumps. That'll be the first step. After a few hundred hits, a tree becomes a stump; sometimes there's also a rare chance of a tree instantly falling and becoming a stump (rotten wood). After that I'll look into breaking axes, axe upgrades, and wasps nests.

I do believe that trees should be put else where, for example industrial however because they are so close to the NPC you get less wood from the trees and it is longer to gain wood, another place to put trees could be the bar as there are many trees around that area aswell.

I have already come to realize that some people are sadly using console commands to get stuff going, namely the following:

+attack .... -attack .... +attack

On a bind which last for at least ten to twenty hits. We need a method to deal with this, namely something like a bee hive fall from the tree and bees attacking nearby players. Another thing which should be done is having it so axes can be broken, and they need to be taken to the Lumberjack to be repaired.

For the moment, those are my main concerns with the system, as for my main suggestions...

Trees need to obviously spawn in higher numbers around the map, and they can be cut down. Another aspect I'd like to see looked into is the ability to have what is known as wood burls. Effectively, when a tree is cut down, a stump is left behind which can be hooked onto with an entity purchased in the marketplace, and pulled out of the ground for it's burl. 20% chance of getting a burl, and the burls range from $15,000 to $20,000 per. This means that if added, trees would also gained a privatized aspect to them, and clans would start taking advantage of the business.
