Someone calling himself Deez Nuts is running for US president and is actually getting support from voters.

In a North Carolina poll, almost one in 10 people said they'd vote for Nuts to run the most powerful nation on Earth.

He's up against businessman Donald Trump - who's ahead in the polls - and former First Lady and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Asked to choose between the three hopefuls, 9% of respondents backed Nuts. Though 12% of people didn't know.

Nuts is seeing similar levels of support in other states too.

The man behind Deez Nuts is actually a 15-year-old.

He's Brady Olson, who lives on a farm in the rural state of Iowa.

Brady filled in the official papers to run for president (with the help of his proud dad) and found inspiration for his campaign name in an old Dr Dre track.

Dr Dre

The song Deeez Nuts appeared on Dr Dre's album The Chronic
Brady is among 500 or so lesser-known figures hoping to become POTUS. Few have a better name though.

"I really didn't want to see Clinton, [Jeb] Bush, or Trump in the White House," Brady told Rolling Stone magazine. "So I guess I'm just trying to put up a fight."

The teenager - who's never held public office or had any public profile of any kind before - was soon trending on Twitter.

He says rather than his age being a problem, people should vote for him because he's young.

"I think I have fresher ideas, because whatever decisions I make would have longer effects on me."

He's not very keen on illegal immigration, and supports gay marriage.

When asked what qualifies him to be president, he replied: "Anyone can run."

And, how far is he willing to take this practical joke?

"As far as America wants to take it."

Only thing is, candidates have to be at least 35-years-old to become president of the United States. Tough luck, Nuts.

Hey, I would support it if he didn't knick oil.

So basically he's just going up against Trump?
