EVOCITY, ID - Winston Smith, previously for a short period in 2015 the Chief Executive of the Weyland-Yutani Corporation, and now a law enforcement officer, has been shot dead in the line of duty late last night.

Winston Smith was a senior executive at the Weyland-Yutani Corporation and at the Evo Broadcasting Corporation. He served in the British Army Special Air Service and in Scotland's police service before moving to America to work for the Weyland-Yutani Corporation, where he was a senior officer in WY-SEC. He served in a number of roles, including as commander of the troubled "21st Shadow Division", which operated in the EvoCity area. He found himself at the forefront of the 2015 death of Alex Robsin, the late 2015 Weyland-Yutani crisis, during which he found himself Chief Executive of the corporation for just a week before it was helmed by board Chairman, who had previously been CEO, Peter Weyland, who remains in the position to this day.

After retiring from Weyland-Yutani as a security executive in 2017, Winston moved on to the Evo Broadcasting Corporation, where he served as Director for a year when he was specially selected to lead the EvoCity Child Protection Agency

According to the Agency, Smith was shot last night when, as Director, he was attending a raid with fellow inspectors in the run-down Central Union district of EvoCity. The Agency, Marion County Sheriff's Office and EvoCity Police Department reportedly remain in attendance at the site, and have arrested five individuals.

An ECPA Inspector approaches the crime scene in the Central Union district

Speaking on behalf of the Marion County Sheriff's Office last night, Captain Sebastian Kruger said, "I can confirm that we are in attendance at the shooting of an inspector from the EvoCity Child Protection Agency alongside the EvoCity Police Department, the fire department and also further inspectors from the agency. At this time, we have made five arrests jointly with the agencies on scene."

The EvoCity Police Department, Marion County Sheriff's Office and EvoCity Child Protection Agency this morning in a joint statement identified the shot inspector as Winston Smith, the agency director.

Peter Weyland, Chief Executive at the Corporation has issued his condolences for Smith, calling him a "close friend and colleague", and praising his "military brilliance". He was joined by EBC Chief Pierre el Daher.

Executive Director for Combined Global Security Operations at the Weyland-Yutani Corporation, Jack Kruger, issued a fuller statement;
"Here at WY-SEC, we are distraught at the news that our former commander and executive was shot whilst in the pursuit of rightness and justice at his job at the ECPA. We all stand with the police, many of whom our operatives regard as former colleagues, and offer our full support as they investigate this horrific act and bring those responsible to justice. As a valued member of our corporate family, we will extend our full support to Mr Smith's family at this trying time, and will cover the full cost of his funeral and provide our full executive bereavement benefits package to the family. In Winston's memory, our new Military Institute building in EvoCity will also be named in his honour and he will be added to our prestigious corporate Wall of Heroes."

Winston Smith is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Smith, and their daughter Katie.
