EvoCity's Trabant youth torment the Establishment

EvoCity, ID - Like a scene from East Germany, a column of Trabants splutter down a highway driven by armed and masked individuals, their tiny little engines struggling to keep up with each other. 

At least, it might have been a scene from East Germany without the Nissan Skyline at the head of the group, the obnoxious and silly vehicle colours, the Bosozoku modifications, the rave music blasting from the cars, and without the dancing and raving, and without the several police cars in tow, red/blue lights active, with bemused officers at the wheel. 

These were scenes from today in EvoCity. In a general torment/protest at the establishment, a group of youths calling themselves the "Trabant Gang" met up at the currently unoccupied Downtown Motors complex to rave, cruise and smoke weed. 

The youths, for several hours, drove around the Marion County area in their convoy of Trabants, often two abreast, blasting music, driving on the wrong side of the road, crashing into each other and running red lights all the while blasting rave music from illegal, loud speakers. In addition to this, the youths themselves not only wore balaclavas and masks but openly carried assault rifles and shotguns, taking advantage of their legal right to bear arms. 

 The modifications on show ranged from the strange to the excessive. One teen, shown left-centre above, had modified his car with a commercial air conditioning unit to stay cool, despite the fact that his vehicle lacked windows.

After meeting, checking out each other's cars, tweaking their cars, raving and shooting randomly in the air (luckily for the youths, the police didn't notice this), the group went on convoy around the city.

The convoy of heavily modified Trabants with their thuggish drivers and passengers bore a significant likeness to the Bosozoku motorcycle gangs of Japan, who tormented police on their heavily modified motorcycles and caused mayhem. 

While this isn't the first outing of the so-called Trabant Gang, this certainly was one of the biggest and most disruptive. With many pointing towards teens with small vehicles like Trabants causing crime and trouble in EvoCity, it leads to the question of what the local police plan to do deal with these outings, and if the Trabant Gang have plans to cause more trouble in the future.
