Sounds like a great idea to improve on the RP behind contra farming, might also be worth giving contra a little boost at the same time too?
Liked something I've said or done? Why not support me by leaving me a REP?

Good thought.
Perhaps it could just be a automated message rather then a map interface (may make its implementation easier). Kinda like the life alert or fire alarm messages:
"The elictricity company reports a (slightly/abnormal/extreme) inconsistency at _______"

I dontknow wether a circle on the map may make it easier to pin point a specific house and could encourage mingery. Even if the circle were to be a bit random/off center certain map locations with a lack of nearby buildings may make it very obvious which house is gonna have the contras.

Another alternative to the circle or the notification may just be predefined map squares. If you have contraband at the corleone estate the entire corleone estate will be colored in an orange box. If you have contraband at the lake houses, the entire lakehouses will trigger the system. This way it would provide you a cruicial hint and would motivate you to patrol that area or setup survelliance operations without giving the location away too easily.

Great suggestion. Can likely be made high priority as the implementation isn't going to be that horrendous, assuming we don't change how contra works. If we add the substation mini-game it'll be more complex, though. That could perhaps be a future addition if we want this out sooner?

Agree that circle v map zone v simple text needs sorting out. Map zone is probably best as it provides a good enough idea without a pinpoint location, but I worry it'll cause constant raids through entire map zones just because one person has a contra den. Circles pinpoints the target better though that has its own downside.

Personally I see it as too easy.

I feel it’s still better to make contrafarming a process like Meth that requires attention, upkeep, and (if not paying attention) extreme damages and failures.

A suggestion such as this:

I like the concept, but unless there are lots and lots of other things thatalso cause this effect, it WILL be used as a "AH HA! CONTRA" detector, which will result in the mass search of the entire circled area.

Much like contra sounds, and the old UV light, anything could be making the sound, and UV lights can be bought at wallmart, but we all know what people did/do with those systems and since they we're the only things that caused the effect in question, people just knew contra/weed was there.

Maybe add a legal way to make money similar to contra, like a bitcoin rig. It'd have a higher cost to purchase than both drug labs and money printers, and a much lower payout. It'd also consume a significant amount of power, so anyone running a bitcoin farm would also show under this system.

You have to regularly top the fuel up else the contraband will use mains electricity and show on grid, however leaving it running when you have little to no contra makes a green dot appear on the map which says that a property is making more electricity than is being used, which could also make the police suspicious.

Why would you use a generator when you can use mains electricity? I prefer the original suggestion.

Doesn't show up on the map if you keep a large contrafarm, but adds a larger risk factor if discovered.
