About
In anticipation of the upcomming fishing update i though it would be a great idea to add functional boats to the server. This way you will have a nice and enjoyanble platform to do your fishing from and also get a bit more variety and depth to the overall RP. It also provides organisations like us (the us forest service) with a few extra toys to do water rescue, ressearch and patrols. This project has just yet begone so atm there are only few boats to choose but the way this contraption is designs it is possible to turn almost everything into a proper boat as the sytem itself does not rely on the somewhat odd water physics. So you can expect a whole series of interesting devices to be published through time (including jetskis, sportboats, patrol boats, canoes etc, a water-sking trailer etc.).

How do i use one of the boats?
The boats are really simple. All you need to do is to spawn in the "boating platform" you can find in the us-forest service public subfolder (advanced duplicator). After that you can spawn in any of the boats that are placed in the same public folder (like the "RHIB protoype 2"). Be sure to spawn it in with all entities and unfrozen. Once you got your boat set up you can drive it just like a car using the arrowkeys.

Helpfull Tips:

- allways make sure you or someone else has spawned in the "boating platform" before you spawn a boat (you can check by looking at the sky above the lake (if a name indicating propownership pops up on the left side of the screen there is a platform). If you start without a platform the boat will simply just flip.
- if the boat inverts its steering repaste it or adjust to it till it changes back
- be carefull when approaching other boats or the edge of the lake. If the tug car is blocked by a wall you boat wont be moving

What do ineed / what should i know
In order for the boats not to be effected by water physics, and not to depend on the restricted thrusters or likewise tools the boating system is powered by a bumpercar like tug ( a small invisible car driving on a invisivle platform [boating platform] above the lake. This allows great freedom in design for the boats it is easy to change driving characteristics etc. .However the motors by which the whole thing is powered tend for some unknown reason occasionaly to reverse their forwards/backwards controls. This can be fixed by respawning the boat or just adjusting to the altered controls till they return their normal function again. On occasions the tugcar is a little hard to steer. If you have issues with your steering step off the gas (or even break) this will make it turn more easily. As it is operated like a car steering only works if the boat is moving (unlike thruster steering). A illustration of the system can be seen below.

Update:
  • Fixed issues where the boat will get stuck (by increasing the mass on the tug-wheels
  • Fixed shadowing issues in regards to the stormfox update (by issuing a newly textured platform)

Known Issues:
  • The controlls tend to get inverted from time to time
