2018 Midterm Elections

Blue wave? Democrats win House, but it looks more like a trickle (RT)

Democrats may have won control of the House of Representatives, but the promised ‘blue wave’ to wash away President Donald Trump hasn’t quite arrived.

Democrats have already surpassed the 23 seats they need to win control of the House of Representatives, flipping 26 seats to the Republicans’ two as the day came to a close with votes still being tallied. They didn’t fare as well in the Senate, failing to flip a single seat while Republicans gained four and held onto their majority.

Some of the most closely-watched races also left Democrats disappointed. Despite raising a record amount of campaign cash – $38 million – Beto O’Rourke failed to unseat Republican Senator Ted Cruz. Republican Rick DeSantis narrowly edged out Andrew Gillum, the black mayor of Tallahassee championed by many progressives, to replace Rick Scott as governor of Florida.

Taking over one house of Congress gives Democrats some of the leverage they have been seeking against President Trump, though it remains to be seen whether they'll actually attempt the impeachment they've been blustering about since before Trump was inaugurated.

Voters turned out in record numbers for the midterms, which many in and out of government saw as a referendum on Trump's presidency.

Much of the mainstream media and the Democrats, of course, had high hopes for a ‘blue wave’. This Tuesday, however, the ‘wave’ didn’t quite roll in.

I’m just glad that drunkard Robert O’Rourke didn’t win the senate race for Texas. Good results for the most part

To think that Ocasio-Cortez is actually in Congress...

Democrats took my historically republican house district Sad
And they took the senate spot but its been democrat for like 30 years so rip

at least we own the senate. what I'm afraid of tho is Trump pulling an Obama. Using executive orders to circumvent congress instead of suggesting bills.

All I had cared about was that California's Proposition 10 would be shut down as it would've enabled cities to once again utilize Rent Control. Was more than pleased to see that be the case.

However, I was disappointed to see the passage of Proposition 11, which would require ambulance providers to pay their employees during their break. While this seemed ideal, many voters didn't bother to do the research on this proposition to understand the context and that it's backed by the ambulance provider itself that is facing several lawsuits and with its passage was a way to avoid +$100million in damages and future salary obligations

Politics still confuse me.  I just have a fucked up view that all people in one country should generally be voting in a fashion that is beneficial to the whole of the country.  Instead we get hung up on this "us vs them" when in reality we're still the same people.  Even worse is that people will vote blindly based on party, peers, ect, rather then voting on the person's character and goals.

Case in point, people have ran with rape allegations, fraud charges, ect ect.  They actually got votes too.  Why people don't want allegations and charges investigated is mindblowing to me.  "I'd rather have a pedo then a dumbocrap"  Seen that on social media, but as a society shouldn't we come up with a better solution then one or the other?  Shouldn't we at least find out what is fact and what isn't, and put those findings on blast?  But then it becomes a "fake news" situation...

I feel like American politics is a good example to the rest of the world of what happens when you let money hungry people lead while keeping the masses both blind and dumb to the situation.  Like the potential Trump PeePee tape.  Okay, what bearing does him wanting to be pissed on during his downtime have on his ability to make decisions?  Nothing.  However, electing a potential rapist into a position where he is the final word on all legal maters, that might be an issue.  Not saying Kavanough (mispelled I'm sure) is a rapist, but we should have had a real investigation.  Innocent or guilty, neither he nor the accuser should have been shamed and shit since no actual facts were revealed.

I'm a soldier and with that comes a mindset that is simply different from normal.  I know a bullet can change politics swiftly, but that is reserved for dictators and oppressors.  Since we have neither, there is little to do other then to vote and hope that things turn out better.

I live in a red state, South Carolina.  Lindsey Graham has to go.  He is a stain on the people of my state.  Unfortunately he's nested in like a tick.  I'm not saying a Democrat has to replace him, but someone that reflects the views of the people of this state would be appreciated.
DISCLAIMER:  I AM NOT LIMELIGHT STAFF.  I DO NOT MAKE POLICY.  I AM JUST A PLAYER.  This is needed because I'm tired of people thinking that I think I'm staff when I have no misconception that I am player.
