Jacksonville Landing shooting kills at least 4, sources say; gunfire heard at gaming tournament

At least four people were dead and 11 others were being treated after a "mass shooting" on Sunday in downtown Jacksonville, Fla., during a gaming event at a popular shopping center filled with bars and restaurants, law enforcement sources told Fox News on Sunday.

The gunfire was heard around 1 p.m ET at a video gaming event held at The Jacksonville Landing, Madden NFL Championship Series. The shooting, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, happened "inside one of the restaurants in the Landing."

Investigators said that "no outstanding suspects" remains, and noted a suspect, only identified as a white male, was found dead at the scene. It was not immediately clear whether that suspect was among the four reported killed.

A source told The Associated Press that the suspect who opened fire died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The incident is being investigated as a criminal act, and not an act of terrorism, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Lots to say on this.

Long story short, if we stopped enabling people to be victims, we'd have less losses to preventable issues.

Sucks that they died, but I'm willing the bet that the shooter and his gun will eat all of the blame.

If he is white, it will be an isolated event, if he isn't, it'll be either a terrorism or an immigration issue.

Sad, but true.



To elaborate a little bit: When I say enabling victims.  I'm not refering to "give everyone a gun" or "take all the guns away."  There is something more in-depth to it.

Compare/Contrast:
1960s: A possible school shooting is called in.  All the seniors grabbed rifles and sat in entry points to the school, rotating with other seniors and faculty to class and whatnot.  Shootings didn't happen.

2010s: A possible school shooting is called in.  All students are either locked down or evacuated.  Only one person typically is armed with only a handgun.  Shootings have been happening more and more often.

Kids from the 60s had to deal with hard times from the previous generations.  They worked on making things better.

Kids from the 10s are growing up in a world where the hard times have been forgotten, so they are much more relaxed and catered to.

I'm not saying bring back the hard times.  I'm simply saying that many of these new mental health issues that lead to shootings were not present in the past, probably because the issues that caused the breakdown were less important.  In WW2, people were lying to join the military to fight.  Now, people are lying to avoid joining the military without looking weak.  Granted that before, we were fighting for something more important, where as now we are likely fighting for the Federal Reserve, whom owns all but 2 country's world currency.

We are at a point in time where people are killing because of something game related.  I don't think the game cause the problem.  I don't think the gun caused the problem.  Obviously the shooter killed everyone, but what motivated the shooter to do it?  Why the other shooters as well?  Not their given reason, but the core one.  Is it a social disconnect? Is it lack of morals?  Murdering people and hate are learned behaviors, not natural ones.  How are so many people deciding to shoot up people now, where in the 1960s kids commonly had guns in their vehicles, at school, at after school, would drink and go shooting, yet people weren't being mass murdered.

I wish I had an answer, but I see the rough area where the problem is.  I just don't know why many seemingly miss the connection.


And on the constitution, before someone brings up the 2nd.  When I think about the 2nd, I look at it and am smart enough to logically argue either direction with it.  Everyone could have a gun, or no one could have a gun, and both answers seem right.  Now whenever you look either direction and it looks like its right, something tells me where you are is wrong.

In either case, this situation would have likely been avoided.  Either getting a gun would be so hard and so expensive that shooting gamers wouldn't be worth it, kinda like how you don't see shootings in the UK happening like this.  Or everyone would have had a gun, just like how everyone in Arizona can concealed carry without a permit, and you would have avoided the shooting altogether, because you don't hear about many shootings in Arizona where everyone is likely hiding a gun on them as it is.


Finally, I can't raise the dead, so I hope they shatter one of the shooter's testicles before they process him into custody.
