For those who aren't familiar with the term, Julian's deadmans system was programmed to release a ton of files out to wikileaks. It was set on a timelock every 24 hours which Julian needs to disarm, and if he fails to do so then the files he was holding back would be released. Usually these "deadman's switches" get put in place when a person fears for their life or if they suspect that they may be jailed.

There's a LOT of speculation as to what's happened, however one of the most widely believed theories right now is that Ecuador have shut off the internet to the embassy in London although I don't believe that this has been confirmed.

There was also MD5 hashes released by the Wikileaks twitter handle to verify the documents were the real thing.

This is actually a big deal. You got a news link?, because I've heard of Ecuador cutting of his internet, but I haven't heard of his keys being released. If they did get released I might fire up a VM and a VPN and check out the archive myself.
