Bomb Planted in the Nexus
[Image: 2Oa0wyW.jpg]

Tensions escalated when armed men took control of the Nexus building after planting a bomb in the lobby. A local Emergency Response Unit team provided reinforcements for the EvoCity Police Department and secured the surrounding area to minimise civilian casualties.

The police sergeant was held at gunpoint as negotiators tried to diffuse the situation. As the stakes got higher, employees in the Nexus found themselves also taken hostage. Confusion resulted in Secret Service agents firing a few shots but luckily no injuries were sustained.

Lead negotiator, Captain Wesley Lawrence of the Bureau of Alcohol, Firearms and Explosives was acting as a liaison officer between ATF and the ERU at the time. The plan he struck with the suspects was that the authorities would stand down and let them freely pass in exchange for hostages. The ERU sergeant agreed to this deal and the suspects left the scene moments later.

The identities of the suspects remain unknown and although their intentions have not been declared, the Carfano family have not claimed responsibility.

“I expect to die in bed, my successor will die in prison and his successor will die a martyr in the public square. His successor will pick up the shards of a ruined society and slowly help rebuild civilisation, as the Church has done so often in human history”  ~ His Eminence, Cardinal Francis George
