So you're claiming we have to care more about areas that have been at war for as long as I remember, than for a western city in which people have lived in peace for as long as we live, suddenly struck by continuous terrorist attacks?
Of course what's happening there is terrible, but has that ever been different?

To be frankly honest I don't give a shit about the Middle-East anymore. It's always attack this, terrorists that, bla bla bla. The problem however is, is that their war is now slowly becoming our war as well.

Why are Paris and Nice horrific? Because innocent people died.
It's much the same with natural hazards: it's only a hazard when it affects humans. If this guy rammed into an empty park it wouldn't be news.
Whilst Iraq and Syria are warzones, we cannot seriously suggest that everyone who died in the masses of ISIS, Al-Qaeda, Taliban or Al-Shabaab attacks had it coming to them.

Families and innocent lives are being taken in those countries too.
Whether you're black, brown, or white, whether you wear a headscarf or you're a frenchman with a man-bun, we're all the same set of organs and blood vessels inside. When Nice hits mainstream media and other similar-scale attacks don't, it comes down to the fine point that we consider some lives more significant than others. Some are worse losses than others. To quote The Help:

"18 people were killed in Jackson that night. 10 white and 8 black. I don't think God has color in mind when he sets a tornado loose."

Whether you believe in a God or not, the point still stands that there's no difference between one life and another. A life lost is a life lost, whether you speak French, English, Arabic or Swahili.

308 people killed in an IS attack 'in the middle of a busy market.'. Innocent lives, just like those partying in Nice.

If you don't care that's your business, but it saddens me that we've resigned to just accepting the fact that people just like us with jobs, an education, ambition, whatever, are going to die. And then turn our noses on them when they want refuge in one of the 'peaceful countries'.

Shit happens, amirite?

Better have serious discussions about car control now.

Pro-tip: set your cover photo to the french flag and keep your current profile picture. This allows you to actively change your profile photo while keeping the french flag on your fb page, since there is an attack every other month
