Idea:

Change either the cost or necessity of plate detachment for trading a car.

Why:

Currently, 30k makes selling the car to another person entirely not worthwhile if the car isn't one of the more expensive models. For example it actually makes you less money if you sell a Golf or a GMC Vandura, and still significantly cuts into what's actually worth the lower convenience of selling directly to a player. This could turn out to be very unhealthy for the used car market in the long run, and especially makes buying a car for rp purposes rather than because it's a nice car more costly.

Maybe make the plate a % of the cars value instead? I agree to an extent, but also a lot of people bought cheap cars like Trabants etc to buy up plates when the update first came out so this could just reduce the costs of those selling saught after plates.

It’s hard to find a balance on this one. The idea was to add additional fees to counter people trading vehicles with plates, when the cost of a vehicle such as the police car was just 1k. The cost of plate trading for whales was just 6k, which is why we increased the base plate cost to 25k and the detachment fee to 30k (cost of a replacement plate + admin fee).

But I do see your point about this affecting the used car market for cheap cars. A % might not work either unless capped or something. Would love to hear more ideas on this, but to be blunt I don’t think the allowing vehicle trading with custom plates attached is on the cards.

IRL you still keep the original vehicles plate it was registered to so if I removed my personal plate IRL it would cost ~£90 and I just put the original plate back on I don’t get a new plate issued. Maybe it’s different in the states idk
