Suggestion: Change both the Contraband model(s) as well as how they function. This thread is dedicated towards changing the Money-Printer.

Reason:
Quote:At the moment, many parts of the game-mode have been ruined by the addition of woodcutting and have become immensely unprofitable in comparison. For this reason, contraband needs to be completely redone (as well as many other things) and that is why I am writing this suggestion.
Details (Components):
Quote:1. The contraband model will be removed to accommodate a new model that will accommodate the following components which include:
1. Ink Cartridges
2. Moulds
3. Power Source
4. Currency Paper
The money-printer will be recreated into an entity that functions much like the coffee machine but will accommodate more components. (listed above)
Ink Cartridges
Quote:Ink cartridges are a required component in the printing process. They can be purchased from _____
Moulds
Quote:The moulds are, of course, the most crucial piece to making counterfeit money. They should be hard to get or simply an expensive component. They should be a permanent item that you can place into the printer and take it out, though if you destroy a printer while the mould is inside it will drop a damaged mould onto the ground which can be repaired by a certain schematic. If police use their ram to destroy the contraband, the mould will simply disappear (confiscated). There needs to be three different types of moulds:
Each of these moulds would vary the printing amount of the money-printer but also be more expensive as you upgrade your moulds. Because of this, there will be a substantial risk in running a printing operation that is using 50/100 moulds.
- $20 Mould
- $50 Mould
- $100 Mould
Power Source
Quote:How do money-printers get powered? This is a valid question and I think we can come to an agreement that batteries should be used and placed on a part of the money-printer in order to make it function. Batteries are, after all, an item that we currently only have 1 use for at the moment.
Currency Paper
Quote:Another component is currency paper, which is used to print the money. This is something that we can have the BMD sell as well as make it an item that can be made.
Details (Functionality):
Quote:These different components make the process more player interactive and resource intensive, but do not necessarily increase associated risk. Because of this, we need to increase the risk of printing as you upgrade certain components of the process that change the efficiency or output of the money-printer.
Upgrading the Power Source
Quote:There should be an alternative to the battery that allows you to upgrade the power supply that is allocated towards the money-printer. Doing this will allow you to make less battery replacements. Doing this will, however, increase the noise produced from the money-printer and also bring a risk that the money-printer will overheat and damage the mould and/or possibly cause a fire.
Upgrading the Mould
Quote:As described above, upgrading the Moulds is an option that increases the output amount of the money-printer. Doing this in itself should be a risk as higher grade moulds should be expensive and/or difficult to make. This in itself is enough of a risk.
Constant Sound
Quote:Contraband should be making some form of noise either very frequently or nonstop. If we redo contraband, it needs to be extremely risky but much more profitable than it is now and more profitable than woodcutting is at the moment. Having sound coming from it all the time will bring about this risk factor. Should there be a way to muffle the sound? That would be something that needs to be discussed and is why I encourage you to post below.
Damaged Moulds
Quote:Another risk that stems from the moulds is the risk of them being damaged. This can occur in many ways, such as but not limited to:
1. Destroying the money-printer
2. Overheating
3. Printer Jam (Small % risk)
Details (Output):
Quote:Another thing that should be changed is the way we receive money from our printers. This in itself will be both a perk but also a risk.
Firstly, money will no longer be printed every 5 minutes but instead every 10 seconds. The moulds will determine how much is printed in these 10 seconds.
$20 Mould = 20 x 6 = $120/minute = $7200 an hour (x2 printers = $14400 an hour)
$50 Mould = 50 x 6 = $300/minute = $18000 an hour (x2 printers = $36000 an hour)
$100 Mould = 100 x 6 = $600/minute = $36000 an hour (x2 printers = $72000 an hour)
While these numbers seem high, they make sense when you compare it to the profitability you have cutting wood. Upgrading your mould and components to the printer becomes like buying a Modern Axe and stockpiling Steroids, which is something that MANY people do which is what makes woodcutting a huge money-maker.
It is also important to note that upgraded moulds will be difficult to get, and they can either be player-made or crafted from purchased items and a schematic, or both. Whichever it is, the price or difficulty of making the higher grade moulds must quadruple as you upgrade your moulds.
*Remember that moulds can be removed from printers and also damaged or confiscated!
