Remember that joining every single pursuit for SWAT wouldn't be allowed, suggestion specifically states if criminals are confirmed to be armed and pose a significant threat.
What I mean is, they'll use the armed gunmen excuse to pull any other person breaking the law over, as they can just say "I'm still looking for the gunmen from x location, 20 mins ago".

There's a significant difference between a manhunt and a pursuit. He's asking for SWAT to be able to join pursuits not manhunts
+Support, if the suspects are violent enough and have fired on officers i see no reason SWAT should not attempt to intervene
+Support , if they are running from cops with guns SWAT should be able to interfere , and help the police , if needed the swat vans can easly stop a car
I had an incident tonight on the servers, and I'll just use it as an example where I think it's fair to have SWAT join in.

We had reports of someone impersonating a Police Officer. He was wearing a fake uniform and a Dodge Charger with the police-skin but without the lightbar. Police Officers were tasked to track down this person and find out if the reports were correct or not. At this point, SWAT was not involved.

I was a Police Officer myself and I pulled up to this suspected impersonator and he took me hostage. I was later released by him but by this point, he had taken me hostage and he was known to be armed and dangerous. At this point, I called in SWAT to assist with locating and taking him down as we knew that he was dangerous and would take aggressive steps against Officers. At the start of the investigation, we didn't view him to be hostile as we hadn't actually had any issues with this individual at all, but after dealing with him, we knew that he posed to be a risk.

I support that SWAT assist with individuals who are armed and dangerous.
I do not support that SWAT should assist with normal individuals who fail to stop for Police Officers and where there's not any intel that supports the claim that he's armed or overly dangerous.

If the individual is armed, hostile and poses a risk then SWAT should assist.

I agree with you, but what happens if the S.W.A.T has now lost the armed guys, most of the time they'll search the entire map to find the guys, and that's where I have to -Support.

Thats's what the police is for.

You realise that a single search in google would discredit your statement. Don't discredit something if you don't know what your talking about. SWAT in the US often join pursuits which have armed suspects involved I can link a few dozen here if you like.

Hell theres even viable proof of this in the post, atleast have the common decency to read someones suggestion before screaming NOT REALISTIC UGH.

-rant over

While that may in fact be true, don't immediately assume that they're wrong just because you've found something on YouTube. Lots of things have to be taken into account when requesting armed support such as the severity of the situation. There's a reason why officers have a firearm to go along with the rest of their accoutrements and pulling someone over who is potentially armed is one of them. I guess it just comes down to what is common practice for that particular agency.

I don't know why you are so sure that "most of the time" people would do that, since I definitely wouldn't (too much of a pain, would search immediate surroundings and then just wait for police to find them again), and I've never seen anyone search the entire map for anything before, at least not as SWAT. Also once again the suggestion is about pursuits, not manhunts. If we follow what the suggestion says precisely, SWAT are not allowed to go start looking for the suspect, only to assist in actually chasing and stopping them once they are found.

Thank you for your cooperation.
*bump* SWAT should allowed to do so as the officer often died because of the heavily armed suspect step out his vehicle and spray all his ammo around

It's realistic.
It helps increase what the SWAT can do.
Some people do it anyway (if they are armed and dangerous, SWAT move in anyway)

The only negatives seem to be:
"It's unrealistic", despite video evidence showing it to be realistic.
