I'm not sure if people are meming or not. Quite obviously the map is part of the problem, you'd have to be blind to say otherwise, not in terms of content but in terms of server stability. Granted, Limelight in itself is not very interesting anymore, but to fix one of the more simple issues is a good stepping stone in terms of server stability. As Internet has very clearly stated, losing 1-2 players is far less significant than 10-20 in terms of crashing. Since Limelight cannot muster up the devs to suddenly push out a load of content, doing what they can is important, and this is one of those things - improving stability.

To mention ‍, you said that your CSGO regularly crashes but you still launch it back up and play it. If you find interest  in CSGO then obviously you will not be bothered by irregular crashes, but if the interest for Limelight is fairly low as it is, adding server crashing on top of that pretty much removes all of the interest that was there since people can't be assed to constantly reconnect and set up all of their shit again. Maybe I am wrong, but it would make sense that someone who finds interest in a game or a community is more likely to not be bugged by crashes as much as someone who is losing or has lost interest is.

To everyone:
Rather than constantly bashing the shit that Limelight is doing to try and fix the player count issues, maybe support it, or help guide them, and then they will feel more entitled to actually put the work into this community. A lot of the devs have full-time jobs, why would they want to put the small amount of spare time and effort into a community that no one is appreciative or constructive of?
You lads know how I'm the cunt who always goes of saying the map isn't an issue and you lot have no idea what you're talking about? Then I get up on an even larger soap box and preach down to you all that a lack of new content is the issue along with many other issues. Well here I am to tell you all that, for once, the map is an issue for the server. Server crashes, as frequent as they have been, are unacceptable and there needs to be a change made to fix this. The obvious choice, if the devs cannot patch it, is to change the map. So I agree that a map change is a necessary step in right direction.

The map is an issue, so we must change it. Take it from me, the one who has been trying to get the message of "map =/= content" into all of your thick skulls for years now. Well here, for the first time, I'm in full support of a map change as it is fixing a real problem.
People trying to blame other things, take notice how when we changed maps we had an almost immediate drop on players.

Southside is part of the problem causing the server crashes.

Why should we allow you to vote for a map that causes the server to crash? It just doesn’t make sense, imho.

You forget— it was the  community who voted for Southside to begin with. The player count is showing that it’s not working. Less than 6 months into having Southside, our player count is the lowest I have ever seen.

Something needs to be done here to fix this problem and keeping Southside is clearly not a solution.

Its been just two months. Makes it even a more urgent problem if it killed the server this fast.
V2D pls not Rockford its not cool !
Everyone claiming this is the lowest playercount but forgetting that we were dead in the water on EvoCity for the longest time too

Is this map change temporary, ie if the Southside linux issue gets fixed?

It's likely to be temporary, but there's always issues we may have to contend with.
Limelight has been dead on Truenorth, Evocity and Southside. Each map change brought in new players for a month or so, then died off.

A map change won't do anything. Sure it will give the effect for another week or so (Southside had 50 players for a week) but then Limelight will return to its grave.

Even if the server stabilizes, it will never return to its glory days when it had 40-50 people. For the sake of server crashes, change the map, yes. But don't expect it to revive the server.

its better to have players for a week than not at all aye?

Aye, I agree. If the map causes crashes, then change it for sure. But we need long-term solutions.

long term solutions im sure will come as soon as the more major problems subside after we change from the map we are currently in, in an attempt to get players online once more

I am sorry but this is really stupid. Constantly changing the map to have a couple more players on it for a week really does not fix any problem.
I mean the server was at its best when it was Rockford, the map was just perfect.

Me and my friends would love to come on the server atm, but the 2 players on isn't really enticing, and I am guessing everyone feels like that, maybe a day. that wasn't a specific event, but just a special day where everyone agreed to come on the server, maybe on a map like Rockford, would give the community a boost again.

I mean, if you don't consider the extreme lag and high pings if the server had more than 25 players on Rockford, sure.
