If you look at official titles for the fire service worldwide, I believe you would indeed find that the professional standard is Fire Fighter, Fire Fighter/EMT, Fire Fighter/Paramedic, etc.
While I do agree with most that I don't care about being PC, Limelight is an all-inclusive community, and I would say this would be a more realistic title as well as a more inclusive title.

Idgaf about political correctness, but I feel it needs to be changed.
Fireman is what a 6 year old calls a Firefighter.
"Hey look mommy, it's the fireman. Wee ooo! Wee ooo!"

A few things:
Please note that are many more reasons than politically correctness - your job title isn't Fireman it is Firefighter (in the 'real world') along with a lot more reasons.
Please also make sure that if you have -supported in the poll that you have either liked a verdict someone has already said or stated your own verdict. (Please keep it critical and no BS)

Mistook this for a troll suggestion initially because of it's absurd wording, then realised it was dead serious, oh my. Anyways, this really doesn't matter and is nitpicking really.

Look, people, if you're seriously putting -support because it supports a left-leaning view, you need to sort your priorities. Firefighter is a professional title, if it also makes the title more inclusive, cool, but the title "Fireman" is still unprofessional.

The reason 'they' are asking for a new title isn't because of professionalism, it's because 'they' are triggered about the word 'man'. There is nothing politically incorrect about saying 'fireman', the word 'man' refers to mankind, the human species, Homo sapiens, collectively, namely Humanity - hence why 'woman' consists of 'man'.
The basis of this suggestion is 'political correctness', and questionably at that. There is a reason the template includes 'Explain why the suggestion should be implemented', and I am -supporting based upon the contents of that section.
Pax.

My official job is "Firefighter", not "Fireman". "Police Officers" are not listed as "Policemen". We're already there with the police job; it would take no effort to change this for FD. It's a disservice to the profession to not update it to its proper title.
policeman fireman ambulanceman
+support, doesn't take a lot of time to do so and it is the correct term.

It's not as much about political correctness but more about consistency with other government workers.
