I would say go for the money packs. This so called "player driven economy" isnt worth the time and the hassle. Hence why no one can be bothered to play. LL has lost a lot of players, mainly including me who often will still choose Fearless over LL. For the simple reason of more players, I have alot more money, I have everything I need.
