Just to clarify to those wondering about US Rockford.
Once our hoster decides to start working again we will most likely have a rotation system in place. EU Rockford will be on until 1am GMT at which point the US server will boot up and all players will be connected. Then, at 12pm GMT, the servers will switch again.

Why? Why limit players to a certain hour to play on the servers when you can have 2 servers EU, and US? honestly this is a bad idea.

We don't have the playerbase to have 3 maps on 2 servers running. After 1am there will only be a few players from EU timezones playing and so by joining them to a US server, they will not only encounter more players, but increase the overall server player count.
Why not have have 30 players on one server, rather than 20 on one, and 10 on another?

Limelight's player-base is mostly from EU I rarely ever see US players as much as before, this rotation thing might connect EU players from the EU server to the US server but that'll not only restart the server but also connect EU players to a higher ping server than the EU one.
Think of it this way, when the severs crash some people don't join back as they don't feel like starting a role-play all over again. How do you think they'll feel if they're connected to a US server that most likely would give them more lag?

After 1am GMT, how many EU players do you think are still on the server? We're not talking about making 50 players connect to the US server. It will mostly be 2-10 players - if that. Furthermore, I'm sure that EU players doing a roleplay would rather be on a server where they can get more attention and interaction then on a very quiet server.
Lastly, it doesn't seem logical to keep two EU servers up after 1am if there are only 10 EU players who playing CityRP 2.

I think it should either be an EU server or a US server regardless of when people come online or go offline, having 2 servers in one feels like you're recycling the servers. At the weekends and holidays I'm pretty sure there are a lot of players who are willing to stay up all night to play CityRP. Especially since its almost summer to some players
To me this seems more like a plan to get less players than to help grow the community - People are going to start saying things like this
"1 more hour until US Switch!!!"
"The server's about to switch to US so there's no point in joining it now..-_-"
"This is a bad idea" ~ Rocket
*Server Switch* "Well, I may as well go to bed."
So, LL will be funding two dedicated servers, but yet only using one of them half of the time?
I can see people in the middle of an RP and all of a sudden 'Server Switch'.
Instant Thought: "Well, I may as well go to bed."
I've said it before: My view is a CDN to forward connections to a core service.
No need for multiple physical servers, just a network (Content Delivery Network) to provide alternate IP's across the world to the same server. Great connection all round, and one single player base.
With all due respect but I think something like that should have a discussion thread in the community input sub-forum as I can already tell that not a lot of people are going to like this idea.
I say just have 1 EU Server and 1 US Server. It's not like the build server is doing anything. At the moment due to no dupe transfer system, only a handful of players on it. Just drop it for a US server until we get dupe transferring. Also the server rotation idea, I have to say, since that start of the suggestion, I hated it. Why should US players only be able to see our server until the afternoon? A majority of US players play during the morning suprisingly, so why should US players and EU players be restricted to play times? Whem the US server was up, we had 20+ on both until 18:00 rolled around.

The build server is on the EU server, dropping it doesn't make a difference. We're not limited to 1 Gmod server per gaming server.
Again, this is what is being discussed. We can always trial these sort of things and will take ideas from the community.

Surely though there is an upkeep cost to each server.
We don't rent server instances but rather powerful dedicated servers. Each dedicated server has the bandwidth and processing capacity to host several CityRP servers, especially ones that draw so little as build. The build servers are barely a blip in terms of processing power/bandwidth required, so keeping them up or down is really a non-issue.
Even with the main servers, the issue is not one of processing power/bandwidth/upkeep but rather spreading our players too thin.

And this why I don't run a server. Welp, then what can we do other than a recycling system with an EU/US Server?
I'm not into the idea of cycling EU/US Rockford.
A) The point of opening that server was to first offer a lower ping solution for Americans but also to possibly bring in new US players due to servers being listed differently based on server location.
B) If someone is doing an RP, why should they be forced to save their dupe, halt their RP and have to transfer it over when the server was to restart as either EU or US?
C) What's the difference between having a 0/60 EU Rockford and a 0/60 US Rockford? The difference is that it is hard to bring new US players into the community when we brand our servers as [EU] before the game server title. It makes it seem like this community is only catering towards European players and to be frank that is what it feels like if you decide to stop US Rockford. EU players complain about not having EU Rockford available and yet I have yet to see more than 15-20 players on Rockford after the day or two after it was launched.
