Hello everyone.

Today i'd like to make a suggestiuon to be  placed on the government side of the server, mainly placed on the president's side.
I'd like to make the suggestion and request for the president being able to change the teamnames of the following teams:

  • Vice President
  • Secret Service
  • S.W.A.T Sergeant
  • S.W.A.T Unit
  • Police Sergeant
  • Police Unit
  • Nexus Desk Secretary
  • Paramedic
  • Fireman
For when they join that specific teamname created by the president because, I have created RPs and I have tried to make people (Sergeants) to change the names and they rather do another type of RP or soemthing that is quite different so I believe it would nicer if the president would be able to convert over the teamnames to overwrite the access. Obviously, players would be able to use /job to change for specific things however it allows the president to set up proper RPs. I have created suggested packages on what you could do with this system.

Explained a bit more from Wulf and Faustie's posts

I understand your concern Wulfy, allow me to expand a little about the suggested topic.

With the Medical and Fire Departments would be able to change themselves of course, however when I personally play president, I attempted to play an alternate city, mine usually bring City 12 for example and, I do find it quite the difficulty to PM or radio the department of fire and medical and it annoys me at times because they don't respond most is the time. I know it sounds stupid but when the Government jobs, all listed above are good looking on the tab men such as:

City 12 - Civil Protection - Unit #*****

It makes the tab menu and the government look more professional and it fits into the roleplay that the president of wanting to do but I will partly agree and address Faustie's statement, yes - it could prevent certain RPs placed that rather certain government members wold be wanting to do however in all fairness and mainly addressed by Overlord, the usual RP placed is usually the same typical policing or SWATing RP as always, expressly with this only changing the job names, that would still most likely be able to contribute with any roleplay they would be willing to offer towards the server and government at the time.

It's probably because I am very weird and everyone I do quite roleplay with knows this and maybe also a slip of OCDness but I like the look of a good looking force from the government job names as when I do actually roleplay, I do tend to actually seen to listen more and lean more trusts the government that underground when they look good with how they act and show themselves both ingame and on the tab menu.

Forum display on how it would work

This would be displayed in it's own UI such as a UI that you recieved when you go into the F1 menu or it can be an addition to the server section of the UI
+Support for Package 1
Might work, but I can see a couple of issues. Even with requirements and a generally sensible change, a lot of players might protest that a new President, while having good intentions, otherwise disrupts already existing roleplay. The President is in charge of the government, but he's also part of it, and just like in reality he can't change agencies easily at his will; he needs them to cooperate.

tbh for government workers the name rarely impacts the roleplay. SWAT might call themselves SAS or Spetsnaz but they don't really roleplay any differently to regular SWAT, but for a president wishing to roleplay something like a Chinese government having "SAS" as SWAT isn't very authentic. Same with the police, paramedics and firemen. The vice and nexus desk secretaries would be able to /job anyways if they wanted to do something else.
On that note, +support for any of the three packages, with preference in order 1 > 2 > 3.

I'm hesitant on this for fire and medic, we have different titles depending on our roles. We aren't just Fireman, we are Ladder 1, Engine 4, Fire Chief Station 8, etc. Being labeled generically would remove the realism of that when we are role playing.

I can understand that for when nobody is using a custom job name certainly. Oh I'm the same way, I'd like my team to look good in the tab menu. FD:EC - Firefighter - Engine #1 and such.

What would be annoying is if we have different teams with different stations setup and a new president joins and overwrites our titles... We'd have to setup all over again.

You'd make an excellent point.

There could be a limit on the president where we could be able to only allow the president to do change the job names twice per president, the second being if the president is terrible at writing and messes up what he had wrote the first time.
Sounds like a good idea, although I am going to agree with Wulf on this matter. But I'm sure Wulf's point can be fixed somehow.
Ok, I'm going to +support this. I do like the idea. I'm sure there is a way to allow for government customization without overriding existing. Maybe a trickle down? If the swat/police sergeant agrees with the change he/she could accept. And if there was a Chief position for Fire/Medic...

Sounds like a great Idea.

I'm happy we discussed this. Smile
