Rock you have a point, but as someone who loves to role play, I can assure you that these help the server. While it may seem obvious to role play naturally, some players would rather shoot people, run around, and be crazy. This creates an incentive for those who don't typically or naturally role play, and gives then perks to good RP, which in turn in nice for everyone.
There is currently no people roleplaying, to make a general statement. Honestly, outside of gun shops etc, there'd be very little, if any passive activity.

With the REP system, it gives an incentive to roleplay, both for the user to accrue enough points in order to unlock a special item, and for bragging rights. And there comes the point of people roleplaying for the purpose to get it...What's the problem with that? It makes the city feel more alive. The unlocks aren't essential to game-play really in 99% of situations. It doesn't have to change the way you play the game, but gives players a push to roleplay to a better standard, regardless of which job you are.

I do not see how this can be a negative thing in the grand scheme of things.

Good point Python! I forgot to say that. Basically, all previous commendation were converted to REPs.

For example:

Police commendation is 1 government REP
Gun Dealer commendation is 1 general REP
Mafia is 1 underground REP

and so on

Phew...
Pred Points. PP for short!
Yay!!!
So because of how much I do cop I just get 5 right off the bat right???
It's a great change to the system. Great job, Burnett!

Great work everyone!!

Its true, majority of players don't want to RP natrually.  LL must work with what they have and to create a better experience these players need goals.

Having an incentive program like this is a great way for people to reach a common goal towards the communities objective.

This system works, the real world has proven it for us.
i'm sorry but why the crap are signboards rep needed

Great work though, it's nice to see a change in the REP system!
Great update, nice to see that LimeLight has been releasing more 'utilitarian' updates recently.
