importantly Money packs will let people get that car or whatever and then start RPing. the issue atm is the only way to get money is contra or meth. We have a lot of money sinks and the staff have ideas of limiting the amount you can buy in a month etc so we wont have those ultra rich players we're afraid of.
also it may encourage more newer players to stay in my eyes building our community further!
I can see both sides but it must be worth a go, I know people want a true economy, but for now we need to focus on people having fun, cos ive had people complaining that they arent. Not everyone is a super serious RPer. I certainly wasnt for a long time, people need tools and incentive to RP

Just know that if you're going to add moneypacks, there's not really any going back, in terms of moving on with the economy.
There was such a large opportunity to actually do something different with the CityRP gamemode, and make it very different to Fearless. At the current rate, it's the same, with a few more addons. I could almost go so far to say that if moneypacks are actually added, then it would appear almost as if it were a cash cow. I mean you've made over $3500 in under a month. I imagine that'd be enough to run the servers, buy mods etc for the foreseeable future.
Would be very disappointing to be honest, especially with what was 'promised' to the community upon the creation of this community. I just hope the good work which has been done so far, doesn't end up in vain.

It's a difficult decision. On the one hand, we have an aim to create a much more exciting economy. On the other hand, it's pointless to have an economy if we don't have players, and we've now received dozens of complaints that you can't roleplay because it takes too long to get roleplay items. We've gone some way to fixing that in adding new, cheap cars, and tonight the prices of standard suits will all be halved (those who already bought them will, of course, receive a full refund). However, it doesn't really suffice. There are other systems we can add such as a lumber system and NPC, but again, we have a lot of players here who only wish to buy their moneypacks, get their RP items, and roleplay/partake in raids/clans. We're rapidly losing those players because we no longer accommodate them.
I think it's also worth considering that the biggest issue in the past was that there were several years of moneypacks, and a lot of resistance to adding any meaningful money-sinks. It took several months of arguing for weapon mods to be allowed and for them to disappear on death, and there were to be no cars more expensive than 1 million, as the BMW was to be the flagship. Here we don't have those restrictions, and we're perfectly happy to add money sinks. The problem is not players who have a huge amount of money - the problem is that there was not much to spend it on, and as such they never had to worry about money or items, and there was never anything to strive for, even if it just involves money-packs (and some other new restrictions we're going to add for certain items).
I think it is worth a go.

What should also be heavily considered, is an incentive to do something on the server besides contrawhore/counter contra whore RP. I mentioned it on the other thread, but I've seen a handful of passiveRPs in my time in the server. I'd usually see the same amount on a single day, easily on FL.
I think a lot of those complaining are like me, quite frankly bored on the servers. The difficulty is, which i'm gathering from a few different individuals in which i've spoke to, is there is no reason to play LL over FL. LL doesn't offer a great deal of content differing from FL. Yes, LL has a ownership, and staff system etc, however I don't really think the average player cares where their donation money goes, or the infringements to the staff's freedom to implement their ideas etc. They just come on the server for fun, and currently on limelight, there's isn't a great deal to be had. (In my opinion, of course.)
At least on the 'other server', people have already built up their inventory, so they can raid etc. For that reason only, I can see moneypacks being a positive thing for the server. But before considering that, at least in my opinion, you need to fix the core problem with a semi-serious server in which little roleplay takes place, thus destroying the point of the server. And I'm not sure the reason people aren't roleplaying is lack of funds.

It is, unfortunately, difficult to pinpoint another cause. You said it yourself: people who already have their inventories built up are able to raid, whereas without money it's difficult, even with the weapons I implemented (pistols/SMGs are actually effective).

Money packs are problematic, the devs need to look into something akin to a system where contra confiscated by the police adds money to a money pot, and all players are available to purchase from said money pot. This money is not sent directly, but rather over a week period in small segments, in order to keep the economy safe from inflation.

It's something we've discussed, but there are a lot of flaws with such a system. For one, with the exception of a few very economy-minded fellows, the majority of people will likely hate that we hold their money "ransom", so to speak, and only release it over a period of time after they donate. I think a donation system like that would do more harm than good.

Well it's between that and limiting how much money people can get per-week really. If you give stuff like 50K moneypacks which are unlimited, people will go Vax mode again, and spend 1000's of dollars to get unlimited cash.

The community must decide it. Atm there are 19 players against Moneypacks. That is the majority so far. I'd support packs if we had a weekly limit.
If the community dont want any packs, they won't be added.

I think the lumbering system update has proved that all we need is passive economies that provide a good income.
Maybe it's time to go about implementing a Quarry Mine system and also implement a farming system that gives people the ability to make food for each other.

Dont make the meth making easier, but tweek the amount you make on it.

For the time being it looks like the community do not want money-packs, and as such we won't implement them. Obviously opinions change over time, and if players want we're more than happy to hold new polls and similar, as well as considering other, more limited money-pack systems. But at the current rate of votes, we'll only release money-packs if we're desperate for server funding, which is not going to be the case for a few months.

Sincerely hoping that moneypacks wont be added. If it turns out an economy is a lost cause anyway (which i dont hope it will) then im fine with adding these things!
