Full Version: Changes to the Player Salary

Explain your suggestion, in detail: We have added a pretty nice employee salary system + more ways to earn income through passive means. I think if we adjusted how salary is overall given these will become more influential to the game mode.

Basically instead of having the salary given every 5 minutes, we collect the play time of the player or something similar that is balanced, rewarding and sensible and give it in total at the end of the day for example at 11:59PM UK time or give the total every 3-5 hours.

This way players get what they deserve at the end of the day but also if they need money before that time, they will have to use different methods that involve using game mode mechanics or roleplay.

To accommodate new players, the starting money will also need to be increased.

Explain why the suggestion should be implemented:

At the moment I believe the salary payment is every 5-10 minutes, which I guess would mean every 5 minutes is a fortnight or a month? And they receive 1-2k every 5 minutes, which in time makes in-game minor money transfers less impactful to roleplay and overall feel. If we adjusted to have the salary received less frequent, it will encourage usage of passive income earning systems like the employee salary system, gathering systems, selling systems and other merchandise/item selling.

If you have any further suggestions we can discuss below but I think with all the recent changes as well as previous changes over the year an overhaul to how the salary is handled is necessary and might assist encouraging player to player interactions.

Agreed with everything. I think the current way salary is given needs to be changed by increasing the time in which it is paid but also by paying it at the end of the day. In my opinion, this would further enhance the recent Employee Salary update as well. Could be beneficial for RPs too :D

But out of interest, if a salary is given every 3-5 hours for example, will I still receive this salary if I disconnect within this timeframe?

The ideal way would be to check if the players is online, if they are they'll receive the money then, if they aren't they'll receive the owed money when they rejoin or the money will be added via the database. It all depends on which development thinks tis the most efficient way. You will definitely get what you earned regardless though.

Yeah it’s every 5 minutes atm (same for /salary)

I like the idea that’s it paid at the end of every day, if we say 24 hours as an in-game month, 1 in-game day would 48 minutes (this is the same as in the GTA universe).

At the end of every real day, they’d be paid a salary for how many “days”  they were connected to the server.

Obviously the starting money and salaries would all need changed to reflect this, but I really like the idea.
Honestly? Pretty brilliant. +Support
