Full Version: Police Database Revamp & Character Information

Explain your suggestion, in detail:
Character information: Update the current ingame system to allow users to choose a date of birth for their character (if none is selected, one will be randomly assigned upon the first join), in addition to showing height, approximate weight, and other general information about the character that would be obviously seen. In the event someone has multiple RP characters, a “character select” type screen could be available in F1 and you can change characters as you please, however the new character would take effect at next respawn.

Police Database Revamp: Show the above mentioned information in the Police Database when someone is looked up. Also, the ability to issue warnings and citations through the database could be added, and would show on a persons record similar to warrants in the current database system.

Explain why the suggestion should be implemented:
Both suggestions would greatly increase the amount of realism on the server, as not everyone is the same height or weight, or has the same date of birth. In terms of the Police Datebase Revamp, that information would be accessible to an officer when they run your license in real life. In addition, having the record of “I gave this person a warning/citation” could also introduce some interesting roleplay.
YES PLEASE

I would personally have the entire character creation system revamped, so that when you first join, you are given a pop-up window with the option to fill out basic information on your character:

> Name
> Age
> Height
> Weight
> Physical Details

This window would ideally also include some basic "Getting Started" info on CityRP - with stuff like the city's location, the state, etc.

Include the option to randomly generate characters by rolling random values for each of the properties, and you're basically set.

Making this window straightforward and easy for new players to understand would help those new to the server (and perhaps, new to roleplay in general) get to grips with the basics and start walking, rather than running. Being able to make your own character right off the bat means player's can already, before they even set foot in-game, know where they stand in relation to others.

The description that shows under your name in-game could simply then be a mashup of all this new character info - their height, weight, how old they look, etc - and with all that info on hand, adding it to the database would be fairly straightforward. My only concern would be that descriptions would need to be changed, to show they are meant to be PHYSICAL descriptions of your character - what they look like, sound like, etc.

Solid +support from me, though.

[EDIT]
What'd be neat (although impractical, and could easily be cheese'd when it comes to PvP) is scaling player's characters depending on their height, so as to give a bit more variation between characters and make people stand out a bit more from their peers.

This'd be neat for a roleplay perspective, but PvP would make it impractical, and would give an advantage either one way or another - hitboxes being off, or being smaller/bigger.

Perhaps some balancing would fix that aspect, but IMO, it'd be a lot of work that could be directed elsewhere.
This would definitely improve RP in my opinion!

To add, I think those settings should be editable though but restricted with either a cooldown (like 12h-1day or so?) or a price you need to pay (or both?). As already pointed out, this could be well combined with the already approved Character Selection.

Could also use a fresh coat on the front end:
